As Thanksgiving nears, I can’t help but start brainstorming ways to get in the mood, and makeup is usually my first outlet to start expressing. I like to be as in tune with the seasons as possible, so I pulled out my favorite four neutral lip products that work lovely on medium skin tones like my own. It’s always been a bit of a struggle as a brown woman with darker lips to find the right nude, but I think it comes down to applying enough of the lip product or simply using those which are highly pigmented.
Here’s what I have on in the pictures above:
Illamasqua Lipstick - Bare
This one is not super pigmented, so you’ll have to apply a few layers. While the product itself may look on the more brown nude side, it applies a bit more pinkish-nude. Though, it might look different according to the shade of your lips.
Shade M Liquid Lipstick - Desrose
Speaking of pink, here’s one that surprisingly looks way more pink than expected, but I like it! It’s the lighter of the two Shade M products I have on in this post, and is extremely pigmented. One quick application and you’re pretty much good to go!
Lancome Le Monochromatique - Oh La La
This has been a favorite of mine since forever, and I’ll give you a tip--I use it for contouring too! Personally, it’s my favorite brown nude shade….ever. You do, however, have to apply it with your hands or a makeup brush of your own, so there’s that. Still, you can tell that I’ve used it a ton. It’s very loved, haha.
Shade M Liquid Lipstick - Secrets
As the darker of the two Shade M products in this post, I feel like this one is great for the end of Fall. It is also quite pigmented, and personally, is a very similar color to my lip color. I’m a huge fan of this since it looks like my lips are naturally like this, even though they’re not.
As a closing, I want to say that there really is a way to wear nudes and neutrals regardless of your skin tone, lip color, and all other factors others might try to use to convince you otherwise. Trial and error is key, and don’t be afraid to color your lips in with a liner of any color/sort underneath your nude to create the color you like!
