💋 Burt’s Bees is well known for high quality lip balms, lipglosses, and lotions! Their products and brand image seem to emphasize “natural beauty,” both in terms of ingredients and makeup looks achieved, so I was intrigued to find their lipstick line which includes bold pinks and reds!
Let’s test Burt’s Bees’ Fuchsia Flood and find out for ourselves if these lipsticks are worth the hype!
🕵️♀️ Lipstick Observations:
👃 Scent- smells like Smarties candy
👄 Taste- tastes like Smarties candy too! (no weird aftertaste either!)
✍🏻 Application- traditional, angled lipstick bullet 💄
💋 Pigmentation- opaque, yet buildable- lots of color is added to the lips during the first swipe, but lips get significantly bolder with two swipes of color
🔷 Texture- very smooth, creamy, and moisturizing! (no tugging or pulling)
🔷 Finish- satin (neither matte nor glossy)
💋 Color Transfer- This lipstick transfers a lot, but Burt’s Bees made no color transfer claims, so it’s fine!
🌈 Color description- bold pink (that fades down to a light pink)
💰 Price- $8.99 (full retail price), $4.48 (current Amazon price)
This affordable lipstick performed as beautifully as many of my higher end lipsticks! It was worth every penny!
📦 Packaging:
brown, square shaped plastic tube with honeycomb design and a color strip in bold pink (to correspond with the color of the actual lipstick)
🌱 Clean Beauty- Burt’s Bees lipsticks are formulated without parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, and SLS (according to their website). Since the concept of “Clean Beauty” can be debatable, I’ve included the full list of ingredients:
🧪 Full Ingredient List (as found on the Burt’s Bees website):
diheptyl succinate, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid copolymer, cera alba [beeswax], candelilla cera [euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax], helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, behenyl alcohol, oleic/linoleic/linolenic polyglycerides, C12-18 acid triglyceride, lanolin, hydrogenated vegetable oil, cera carnauba [copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax], moringa oleifera seed oil, rubus idaeus (raspberry) seed oil, sorbitan tristearate, glyceryl caprylate, aroma [flavor], tocopherol, glycine soja (soybean) oil, lauroyl lysine, citric acid, linalool. May contain [+/-]: mica, CI 77891 [titanium dioxide], CI 75470 [carmine], CI 77491•CI 77492 •CI 77499 [iron oxides]
👩🏻🔬 Wear Test!
On their website, Burt’s Bees claims that this lipstick provides “8 hour moisture” but how long will the color last?
⏰ Start Time: 2:30 PM
During the first 56 minutes, I only drank water💧(straight from the cup, no straw), and the color didn’t fade at all!
Brunch 3:26 PM
🥞 Food eaten:
🥥 Tate’s Bake Shop- Key Lime Coconut Cookies
🫐 Blueberry Oatmilk Smoothie
🍃 Fresh Spinach
🍕 Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pocket
☕️ Coffee with Milk
Post Brunch 4:18 PM
💋 The color faded down to light pink, but a lot of the color was still there!
Dinner 7:36 PM
🌭 Food Eaten:
🧇 Waffles and Sausages
🍳 Fried Eggs
⏰ End Time: 8 PM
💋 The color faded down to an even lighter shade of pink, especially on certain parts of the upper lip. This lipstick could use a touch up after eating a 2nd meal, but if you don’t get around to it, it’s not a big deal because the color fades pretty evenly!
🏆 Product grade! (out of 5 stars)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars
💋 This lipstick really delivered in terms of color payoff! Fuchsia Flood was described as a “bold pink” (on Burt’s Bees’ Amazon page) and it lived up to that description! 🎉
💋 The color faded evenly, so I didn’t have to worry about post meal touch ups!
💋 The formula was very emollient and moisturizing! 💦 This lipstick kept my lips moisturized all afternoon and night; it was as comfortable as a lip balm! 🥰
