Perfect Highlighter for my Brown Skin? Ipsy product try-on!

Hey everyone!
Highlighter is my favorite type of makeup, but with my complexion, finding the right one is tricky because the metallic elements can make me look a little ghostly 👻.
To show you what I mean, I'm trying on 3 different kinds of highlighters to see how they compare!

1. Space Cosmetics "Seen From Space" - 🚀 This is a pink-peach and looks great and subtle when a small amount is applied. When I started layering it on, it started to have that greyish effect.
2. Coloured Raine "Your Treat" - 🍭 This one is more of a bronze/brown, and despite my skin being brown this didn't look very natural. It sat on top of my skin and very much looked like makeup instead of highlighting aspects of my bone structure.
3. Shaina B. "Beachy" - 🏖 The yellow gold of this definitely made me look like I just came back from the beach. I loved how this one was effective but not too noticeable.

I would say the warm tones of the Shaina B highlighter was my favorite, with the peachy-toned Space Cosmetics coming in a close second.
Which is your favorite (for me or for you)? 1, 2 or 3? Let me know in the comments below!
Plus, I'm pretty sure I got all 3 of these in my IPSY boxes, so if you've tried them too, let me know what you thought! Did they work for your skin tone? What highlighters usually do?

Thanks for reading & watching 💕

I like the Shaina B, too. I’ve never heard of the brand, but it’s pretty. I rep Notoriously Morbid, and I’ve been into colorful multichrome highlighters, lately, though golds or champagne colors always work. Great comparison!

    This looks beautiful! ✨

Pink Peach would be my favorite highlighter. I really would like to try the yellow gold I might be able to use with a bronzer tone make up. Good video of you and the demo too from IPSY.

Awesome video and they all look great on you 😍... I generally use Glamglow illuminating moisturizer as base before using makeup it gives a moisturized glow and sometimes I use Mac strobe cream it also gives the perfect highlight I want...and last but not lest Charlotte tillbury is my favorite for the Color and the highlight together !! ✨✨✨

Those look so pretty!! Your skin looks amazing too! 😊 I love my highlighter by OFRA Cosmetics! It's very shimmery, pigmented, and goes on beautifully. I look for tone and texture in a highlighter when selecting a new one. I tend to go for more pinks or some whites then just tans. I'm not really sure about any tips on helping decrease hair shedding. Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend! Stay gorgeous!

i love highlighters! I agree with you that 3 looks the best on you. I have been using a contour n highlight palette that my daughter bought me. It is called W7 Lift and Sculpt Face Shaping Contour Palette. It has 3Highligjt colors, I like the darkest the best . It has 2 Contour colors and 1 Bronzer. Thanks for sharing.

I don't use highlighter at all but after this post I am interested in trying. I like the Beauty color because I always want to have a glow.

Great video. Seen from space is more a natural one that I like. all three look so nice against your skin. I don't have a current highlighter but I will definitely check these out. I like how they are subtle and soft. To reduce hair shedding, I use a bonnet and a silk pillow case. It helps with hair breakage.

That’s a tough decision! They all look good on you❣️ 🧐What is your favorite highlighter right now? I don’t have a favorite right now. 🧐What do you look for in your ideal highlighter? (Tone, intensity, texture?) My favorites are those that aren’t sparkly. I look for ones that will give just enough straight-up highlight.

Oh I loved seeing you try on these three shades! I think I preferred the Space Case highlighter as I tend to prefer peachy-gold highlighter colors! My favorite highlighter at the moment is Becca’s classic champagne pop powder highlighter! It’s a gorgeous champagne peachy pink color, and is my go-to regardless of if I’m pale or tan! I prefer pressed powder highlighters, as I think they are easier to blend and build compared to liquid/cream. I also look for a super buttery texture, which Becca’s pressed highlighters definitely have! As for intensity, I prefer something that gives you a subtle glow after the first swatch, but can easily be built up if you’re going after that blinding luminosity!

I like number 3. It gave you a natural glow. Finding the right shade of highlighter is sometimes hard. I just want the natural glow without looking sparklely. My go to highlighter is Physican formula highlighter in dew mist. What I like about the formula is it gives a natural glow without the sparkle. I liked your review. .

I would also choose 3 or Beachy because it isn't as shiny looking as the others and I don't like shiny a lot and since my face is pale shiny would not be right for it. The less shinier the better.

These look really good on you. I love the Seen from Space color. It reminds me of a gold shimmer shadow catch all that I use for eyes or to get a healthy glow. But my all time favorite is the Nars Orgasm stick just bc it adds a pinky hue with glitter that fits well with my skin.

  • Rukhsana

my favorite highlighter is the anastasia beverly hills amreezy highlighter. its so metallic and buildable, it has very little shimmer and glitter and rather more wet looking which are exactly what i look for in highlighters. tips to decrease hair shedding will be try to keep hair less damaged and use organic oil based hair oils on the roots of the hair before very wash.

Good review and yes 3 looks really good on you. I do not wear highlighters at all right now.

  • Shannon Grant

I agree, highlighters can be tricky depending on your skin tone. I like 2 so far: crush xo and bh. I think the trick with highlighter is less is more. Over application can make you look really artificial.
