Day 14 with Collective Laboratories Activating Serum
The week two check in!
My daily hair care routine has been wash and condition with Pura D’or’s Original Gold Label Anti-Thinning Shampoo and Deep Moisturizing Biotin Conditioner. Towel dry my hair. Use the Activating Serum. Apply a little bit of Moroccanoil Treatment Light to the ends of my hair that’s been bleached. Let the whole thing air dry.
As to how I apply the serum. I’ve tried sort of dropping it on the scalp and rubbing it in and the method shown in the video on the Collective Laboratories site. I’ve kind of settled on a hybrid of both. Two weeks in and I’m half-way through with the bottle. I’m pretty sure it’ll last the next two weeks, but it might get close.
Am I seeing less hair fall? Unfortunately, no. I seem to lose around 30-60 hairs doing this whole routine (yes, I did count each strand) and that hasn’t changed. The good news, I suppose, is that I’m not losing more hair. I do have to note that I don’t have issues with hair breakage – everything seems to be from the root.
Am I seeing hair growth? It’s definitely growing in length as I can see new dark and grey roots (fortunately more dark than grey!) peeking out here and there, but is it growing faster than normal? I can’t say.
Am I seeing new hair growth? Hard to say. Because of the natural cycle of hair growth and loss, I think this is going to be more a long term haul (possibly taking up to three months according to the FAQ on the Collective Laboratories site) rather than immediate visible results.
(I’ll also note that the Pura D’or shampoo I’m using says to give it 8 weeks of consistent use to see results and I’m just shy of 4 weeks at the moment and I haven’t seen any real differences prior to adding the Activating Serum.)
Overall thoughts? I kind of wish the bottle were bigger. I feel like if I were more generous with my dosage it wouldn’t last the full month. Also, the warming sensation isn’t as intense. Maybe I’m spreading it out better? Using less? My scalp’s getting used to it? I do like how my hair looks. It seems to have a bit more lift at the roots (and as someone with straight flat Asian hair, I can use all the help I can get).
