Before the Beauty Beatdown: Pre-Makeup Skincare Regime for Combition/O
Hey PrismPop fam! So lately, I’ve settled into this 4 step routine just after jumping out of the shower and before doing a full face of makeup. This works especially well when your skin might be a little rough, and needing to be smoothed out evenly. Although I have combination/oily skin, I definitely have my moments when my skin sees oil only in random patches. To get a nice even canvas before the full beauty beatdown, here are the four products I use:
Pixi Retinol Tonic: This is used just to get any grime/dirt off before we lock in with some moisture. I would especially use this if you’re doing your makeup at a time of day when you haven’t just gotten out of the shower. Oil/dirt builds up as we go about our days, so it’s important to clean the face.
The Art of Inhyunjin Hydration Essence Age Defying Serum: The reason I love this step is because the product helps brighten and solidify my complexion, while improving skin texture and clarity. Essentially, it gets us going on creating a smooth canvas, but we’ll have to use a few more products if we really want the makeup to glide on seamlessly.
Pixi Jasmine Oil Blend: I would be lying to you if I wasn’t partial to this oil just because of the smell. I think any face oil should work for this step, but I personally love it when my oil smells super nice and flowery! We use an oily to let the makeup slip on as opposed to having to blend a ton during the process of application.
Clarins Instant Smooth: This is one of my favorite bases/primers because it doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. If you do have oily/combination skin, one of the worst things you can do is use an extremely heavy primer that clogs your pores--which essentially defeats the purpose of what a primer does. Too, this one is the best of the best when it comes to keeping the skin smooth--which is what our purpose was with this whole routine anyways!
That’s it! Watch your makeup routine take up less time now--you won’t have to spend those extra minutes blending too much, and you won’t have to deal with fixing any cakiness at the end of your makeup routine!
