1 Month of Collective Laboratories Activating Serum, is it Worth it?
Hello hello, lovely people! I was luckily able to get my hands on the Collective Laboratories Activating Serum. Keep reading for my honest review of this product!
First things first, the packaging is soooo pretty! It’s so classy yet not too over-the-top. The design makes the product look very natural and clean. The product comes in a brown glass bottle with a dropper. I like that the bottle is brown because it tends to shield the product inside better from the sun which can oxidize a product and reduce the shelf life and efficacy.
The liquid smells like herbs and spices and slightly medicinal. It does not bother me, but if you have a sensitive nose or do not like these kinds of scents, I would not recommend this product.
I started applying the formula every night before I went to sleep, but because I was worried about the amount of oils that would be near my face as I slept (I’m a toss and turner for sure), I decided to apply every other day. The morning after, my hair would be slightly more voluminous.
In the application instructions, it says that the “active formula may cause a warming sensation” that goes away after a while. Every time I applied it, my scalp did feel warm and tingly, which sometimes got a bit irritating and itchy for my scalp. The bottle also says to use a whole dropper full, but I decided that it was too much product for my scalp (as my scalp surface area is small).
So what's the verdict???
I would not personally buy this product. It’s been about a month, and I have used about a third of the product. I was consistently applying for the first two weeks but then fell off a bit during the third week. The only difference I really noticed was a slight volume increase in my hair and that my hair loss decreased a bit. I also was not a big fan of the itchy scalp that I had to deal with at night. do like that it increased the volume of my hair as I have very thin and flat hair, and there might’ve been a bigger difference if I used more product as the instructions say to, but the irritation and itchiness it brought was not worth it. If you’re like me and have a hard time keeping up with routines, this may not be the product for you either.
