I received the Tatcha Rice Cleanser from PrismPop to review - I am very grateful for the opportunity, and I would love to share my thoughts! This brand is great: the Japanese company Tatcha supports and helps fund girls’ education with every purchase!
About the product ($35 for 120mL): This wash is for normal to dry skin, although it works perfectly on my combination/oily skin! It’s also vegan, cruelty and gluten-free! “A ph-neutral cream cleanser of rice and hyaluronic acid that gently purifies while moisturizing.”
Highlighted ingredients: rice extract (softens and brightens), hyaluronic acid and ceramide-rich algae (hydrates and moisturizes), ph-neutral amino acid-base (gently cleanses), and signature Hadasei-3 (restores and enhances).
How to use: Wet hands and face, then massage a small amount onto face to create a rich foam, then rinse.
Packaging: I like the sleek style of packaging - it is practical and wastes little space! The color and lettering fit perfectly, and this product is easy to use. Although it doesn’t look as fancy as some other Tatcha products (which are difficult to beat in terms of looks), it is modern and practical, which I like!
Scent: I normally opt for fragrance-free cleansers, but I enjoy the scent of this product and it is non-irritating for me! It has a fresh and slightly citrusy scent and is not too strong. It works on my sensitive skin!
Look/Texture: The milky white liquid cream has a smooth texture, while tiny particles of microcrystalline cellulose exfoliate the skin. It feels nice on my skin and lathers quite well. I only need to use a small amount each time!
Effect on skin: I was very satisfied with my results - my skin felt significantly softer right after I used the product, and it didn’t feel dry either! My skin felt clean: it got rid of all the unwanted oils and dirt, and it didn’t irritate my skin. The rice wash did what it claimed - my skin felt softer, hydrated, clean, and not irritated!
Verdict: Somehow, I feel like this product changed my views on cleansers. I used to think, it doesn’t matter as long as the product gets rid of the dirt/oils on my face, and it’s non-irritating. I didn’t care to buy fancy/expensive cleansers like this one, because I thought that you would be rinsing off the product anyways - it probably isn’t worth it. But I realized that cleansers can be so much more! The rice wash smells nice, works perfectly, and also softens, hydrates, and brightens my skin - it does more than your average cleanser. It’s expensive, but if you have extra money to spare, don’t waste your time (tatcha's entire website is 20% off until 10/15!) - go ahead and buy it!
P.S. I’ve read a few reviews about this product, and quite a few people with dry skin say that it slightly dries out the skin - I don’t have dry skin, so it worked fine on me, but just be aware of this if you have dry skin. I have not yet used this product for over a week (must post within deadlines!) so I can’t say how this product will affect your skin in the long term, but I have high hopes!
