I had plenty of cheese left over after making grilled cheese yesterday, so I decided to make mac and cheese - my fav!
This recipe is actually quite simple but the result looks fantastic and tastes gourmet!
1/3 lb large elbow macaroni
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 1/2 tbsp all purpose flour
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
salt, pepper, paprika
2 oz each chedder and gruyerè
1 oz each romano and harvati
(I used these cheeses but u can probably just use whatever u want or have in the fridge)
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs + butter/oil
Prep steps: grate the cheese, boil the macaroni, preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
After melting butter in a saucepan, sprinkle the flour and whisk until it forms a roux. Whisk in cold milk and cook until thick and bubbly. Add the rest of the ingredients except panko and macaroni, and stir/cook until smooth and fully incorporated. Then, add the macaroni pasta and combine. Pour the mixture into an 8 by 8 baking dish and bake for about 12 mins. Broil for another couple mins to acheive a crunchy, golden brown top! #food #Recipes #macncheese #HealthyRecipes
