I’ve been an avid chai drinker since birth; I’m convinced it’s just in my blood. Many have been trying to find ways to recreate the Starbucks Chai Latte from home, but few know how to make chai the simple, traditional way! In order to stay extra warm and cozy this season, I’m sharing the true recipe with you.
You will need:
Cardamom Powder
Chai Masala (fun fact: the one I use is actually home-made by my family and their staff back in India!)
Fresh Chopped or Grated Ginger
Chai Patti’s (Tea Leaves)
Water
Milk
Step by Step (for a 10-12 oz serving):
Add one heaping tablespoon of Chai Patti’s to a pot
Add a dash of cardamom powder
Add 1-2 tsp chai masala (depending on how “kadak” or “spicy” you like it)
Add 2 tsp chopped ginger
Add ¾ cup water
Turn on the gas, let it warm for a bit
Add ½ cup to ¾ cup milk as per your liking
Once it boils for a minute or so, put it through a tea strainer and into your favorite cup
ENJOY!
