Let’s talk about ELF’s Oil-Control Liquid Lotion ($8 Amazon)… Unfortunately, the only name in this product that does what it’s suppose to do is “Lotion”. This product isn’t going to “control” any of your “oils”. Little to no scent. It’s definitely moisturizing and for some reason I don’t know why I had the intention that this product was going to be mattifying (probably bought the wrong thing from ELF). Regardless, this product is a strong PASS!!
It’s the same thing for The Body Shop’s Mattifying Lotion ($15). I believe the scent in this product is the Tea Tree, but over time the scent starts to smell a little weird (not ganna lie). It moisturizes but does not mattify. It defeats the purpose of the product, especially for people with really oily skin who purchase these products with the expectation that we may get results like Liquid Powder from Farsali but for a better price.
Verdict: I guess I can say that I see a pattern with products advertised as “Mattifying Lotions”. I guess they’re intended for consumers with combination skin and not for consumers with full oily skin because it’s probably hard to create a product that both mattifies and moisturizes at the same time.
