Two of my favorite products are Ofra highlighters, specifically those in collaboration with NikkiTutorials, and Stila Liquid Eyeshadows. I’m a big fan of colored highlighters and monochromatic eye & cheek looks, so I created 3 pretty pairings from my collection!
Look #1 - Iridescent Blue 💙
Eyes - Lilac Legend Little White Lies Liquid Eyeshadow
Highlight - Space Baby
Despite the name Lilac Legend, this is a sort of duochrome chameleon. When paired with purples it pulls more purple but when paired with blues it leans more blue. This eyeshadow isn’t opaque so it’s meant to be more of a sheer topper shade or a light wash of shimmer. I love these two paired together because they both have this beautiful iridescent quality ✨
Space Baby is definitely not for the faint of heart. If you prefer neutral highlighters then this definitely isn’t for you, but if you love a good colorful highlight like I do, then this is definitely one to try 😍
Look #2 - Pastel Pink
Eyes - Sunset Cove Glitter & Glow
Highlight - Cloud 9
One thing you should know about me is that I LOVE pink highlighter. All of my everyday go-to highlighters are pink (maybe one of these days I’ll compare my favs). Cloud 9 gives an amazing pink glow when the light hits it 💗
I love pairing these two together because they create a monochrome look with a bit of a twist. While Sunset Cove has a pink base and pink glitter, there are also specs that give a blue reflect when the light hits them! The duochrome really adds a unique pop to this look!
Look #3 - Light Gold
Eyes - Bohéme Shimmer & Glow
Highlight - Glazed Donut
This one is for my neutral lovers who still want to GLOW and SHINE 🌟 Unlike the previous two eyeshadows which are both Stila’s Glitter and Glow formula, Bohéme is a Shimmer and Glow. While I love both formulas, I think it’s really a matter of personal preference. The shimmer formula is easier to apply because it goes on much more opaque and even. The glitter formula takes a little more finessing in order to get the glitter evenly distributed. While Bohéme is a neutral, there are also Shimmer & Glows in beautiful and striking jewel tones!
Glazed Donut is a great shade option for my skin tone. Ofra’s highlighters are all stunning, but some of their most popular shades, such as Rodeo Drive, is a bit too dark for me. I’m incredibly pale (usually the lightest or second lightest foundation shade) so I imagine that most people would be able to use their more golden and bronze shades. It can be hard to find a neutral gold shade that is light enough, which is probably why I’ve taken this wearing pink highlighter most days 😂 With Glazed Donut, NikkiTutorials and Ofra definitely accomplished a beautiful “natural glow” type of highlight.
Stila Liquid Eyeshadows - I use the applicator to get product onto my eyelid, but then I use my ring finger to spread and blend the eyeshadow out. If I am wearing a dark eyeshadow base then I may apply the eyeshadow (especially the glitter formula) onto my finger with the applicator and then pat it onto my eyelid. This helps to prevent getting various eyeshadow colors on the applicator and into the bottle.
Ofra x NikkiTutorials Highlights - I use brushes of different bristle density to apply highlighter depending on how bold and concentrated I want the glow to be. I use a softer, larger highlight brush to create a more sheer wash of color over my cheekbones. When I want a bolder look I use a smaller, denser brush to concentrate the highlight.
Have you ever tried either of these products?? What were your thoughts?
I think liquid eyeshadows can be intimidating to many, but I would definitely urge people to give them a try! Starting with an inexpensive alternative, like the Essence Metal Shock Eyeshadows, is a great way to give them a try!
When it comes to highlight I would love to know whether you prefer a neutral glow or a colorful shine ✨
