Hi, Prismpop beauties! Today I'm reviewing Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme. This Olaplex leave-in conditioner claims to strengthen and smooth hair at the same time, making it so much more resistant to breakage. ❤️
If these claims are true, this styling cream could be revolutionary…
But what exactly is Olaplex No. 6? Does it really work as well as advertised, and if so, how? Are there any side effects? 🤔
These are just a few of the questions I set out to answer in my latest review! Keep reading this Olaplex leave-in conditioner review to learn more about what I think of the No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme.

Some people with thin hair claim that it had an opposite effect on their hair making it thin and break more. I have not had that experience.
There was a myth going around that this product has ingredients that cause infertility but this was later disproven.
About Olaplex 💁♀️
Olaplex is a hair company founded in California in 2014. What started out as every hair stylist's and colorist's best-kept secret is now an international phenomenon.
Olaplex products are designed for all hair types and textures. And every product includes the company's cutting-edge bond-building technology to improve the health and change the quality of your hair.
Key Decision Factors 📝
Before I get into my review of the pros and cons of Olaplex No. 6, I want to quickly explain my review criteria. I use the following five key factors when making my decision about a product I am reviewing.
🌻Formulation
When I say formulation, I really mean ingredients. Are the ingredients cruelty-free? Are the ingredients clean?
These are two of the biggest questions I am looking to answer when I review a product's formulation.
🌻 Consistency
I do not like using sticky products. 😝 The hair product consistency I prefer is thick, creamy, and easy to spread across the strands of my thicker hair.
🌻Use
Finding a holy grail product is all well and good. But when I post a review, I also like to consider my followers who may have a different hair type or texture.
🌻Benefits
Olaplex makes some pretty big claims about its No. 6 leave-in conditioner. Are these claims true, or are they just hype? Inquiring minds want to know... 🧐
🌻Longevity
I am not a big fan of products you have to re-apply throughout the day. So, I want to know how long Olaplex No. 6 lasts before I have to re-apply.
Olaplex Review: Pros and Cons ⭐
I have been testing this product on my hair for a few weeks now, and I must say that I absolutely love it! It leaves my hair so soft and shiny, whether I do a blow dry or let my hair air dry. Plus, my hair really does look and feel healthier.
Not sure if you should try Olaplex No. 6? Then check out my pros and cons to help you make your decision.
Pros 👍
✅Suitable for Everyone
The best thing about this product is that it works for all hair textures and types. It would work just as well for short hair as it does for my long hair.
I have naturally curly hair, and this bond smoother makes my locks look absolutely beautiful when air dried. I also love using this product for a super-sleek, professional-looking blowout.
I also love that if I do decide to go brunette again, I know this product will work just as well for my hair as it does now.
✅The Ingredients
I love that this product is vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, and cruelty-free. It is also a clean hair care product, meaning it contains absolutely no parabens, phthalates, phosphates, or sulfates.
✅No More Frizz
Olaplex No. 6 also helps to tame frizziness which makes my hair look better even on the days I don’t blow it out. I notice that my curls look more defined and less frizzy when I use this in my hair.
Plus, this effect lasts all day. When I do a full blowout, I do not have to re-apply this product until the next time I wash my hair.
✅No Rinsing Necessary
I love that it is a leave-in conditioner that doesn’t need to be rinsed out. It makes it super easy to just apply after a shower and get a clean blowout.
✅You Can Use This on Wet or Dry Hair
The creamy consistency of this product makes it perfect for use on both wet and dry hair.
It leaves a slightly texturized feel when I apply it to my wet hair, which is why I think this is one of the best Olaplex products for curly girls.
Cons 👎
❌May Not Be Right for Thin Hair
In Olaplex conditioner reviews, some people with thin hair claim that it had the opposite effect on their hair, making it thin and more prone to breakage.
This could be due to the isopropyl alcohol content, which can be drying in rare cases.
I have not experienced this side effect. But I do have thicker hair. If you have thinner hair and have tried this product, leave a comment and let me know your experience with it.
❌A Controversial Ingredient
There was a myth going around that this product has ingredients that cause infertility, but this was later disproven.
If you are really worried about this potential side effect, though, rest easy. Olaplex removed the controversial ingredient from all of its products earlier this year. Click the link above to learn more.
Olaplex No. 6 Dupes and Alternatives 🏆
I also want to mention some cheaper dupes and alternatives to the Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother. Here are three good ones that you should definitely consider!
1. Sephora Hair Cream 🌟
The Air Dry Styling Cream is a Sephora Collection dupe for Olaplex No. 6. It only costs $12, more than half off compared to Olaplex No. 6.
I like that this product works well for all hair textures and offers a heat-free way to tame frizz. But this really is not a full dupe for Olaplex No. 6 because it is only suitable for wavy and curly hair, and it does not offer heat protection.
2. Aquage Lux Enhancer Texturizing Blow Dry Cream 🌟
Aquage Blow Dry Cream costs $26 for four fluid ounces. This price is pretty comparable to the price of Olaplex No. 6.
I love this product because it is super long-lasting and comes with volume-enhancing ingredients. But since I do not need any extra volume (my hair is already thick enough!), I do prefer Olaplex over this product.
I also do not think this is a good leave-in product for a natural blow-dry. It can leave the hair a little bit greasy unless you apply heat, which is how the brand intends for this product to be used.
3. Kreyol Essence Soft Hair Leave-In Cream 🌟
This product is an in-shower conditioner that claims to promote hair growth and thickness. It costs $22 for an eight-ounce bottle.
I love the ingredients in this product. Black Castor Oil and aloe vera are super moisturizing. I also love that the brand promotes clean formulas that are free of sulfates and parabens.
But I would not recommend this product for oily hair. It is super moisturizing and works best for curly and coily hair types.

Do I Recommend Olaplex No. 6? 👍
I bought this because my hair colorist recommended it. Now that I have lighter hair 👩🏼, it's more susceptible to damage. I needed a product that was the best in its class at preventing breakage, and that’s exactly what this is.
After trying this product on my own hair for a few weeks, I am 100% sold. I definitely recommend this product, especially for girlies with chemically-treated hair like mine.
