Oh K! Masks!

Oh K! Masks!

views · 08-05-2020

I love skincare. That's why when I was chosen to be a tester for the Oh K! Beauty bag, I was stoked! The bag contained a moisturizer, 3 sheet masks, and a foot mask. Today, I will be talking about the masks.

• First up to bat is the sheet mask that I got to use, which is the Skin Clarifying Leopard Print Sheet Mask.

About the mask: The mask is made in Korea. It also contains tea tree oil and willow bark. Tea tree oil is great for treating acne because of its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It's also thought to calm redness, swelling, and inflammation. It may even help to prevent and reduce acne scars, leaving you with smooth, clear skin. Willow bark is great for skin because it has been used for centuries to soothe irritated skin. Containing salicin—from which salicylic acid is derived—this versatile ingredient is both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, clearing pores and alleviating acne and irritation.

How to use:

1. Wash face.

2. Apply mask.

3. Leave on face for 10-20 minutes.

4. Rub in excess serum.

Now onto my review! Here's my face before hand after cleansing.

First off, this mask is sooo freakin cute!!!

I left it on for the maximum amount of time, because I got caught up watching Netflix (#UmbrellaAcademySeason2)! When I took it off and massaged the excess into my skin, my face was very soft! The mask was very soothing and didn't irritate my skin at all, which is great because I have very sensitive skin!!!

•Second up to bat is going to be the Revitalizing Peppermint Foot Mask.

About the mask: This is also made in Korea. The masks are meant to soothe tired feet by being cooling and refreshing. Peppermint oil naturally cleanses the skin and has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It has a cooling effect which soothes irritation and inflammation due to acne.

How to use:

1. Wash and dry feet.

2. Tear apart masks.

3. Place masks onto feet.

4. Peel backing off of sticker to wrap mask snugly onto foot.

5. Leave mask on for 15-20 minutes.

Now onto my review! I didn't take before and after pictures, because feet pictures are weird, but I did take one with the masks on!

When wearing the masks, they were very comfortable and cooling. Once I took the off, my feet felt very soft and refreshed... if your feet can even feel refreshed?!

•The third mask I will talk about is going to be the Brightening Watermelon Sheet Mask.

About the mask: This is also made in Korea, as are all the other products. The mask is antioxidant rich and locks in moisture. The mask also has vitamin C. Watermelon is good for skincare because incorporating it into your routine can help calm inflamed areas, heal damage after a breakout, and even control conditions like acne and eczema from the inside out. For generations in Korea, watermelon rind has been used to comfort aggravated skin. It can reduce redness, calm inflammation, and even speed up the cell turnover process. “Reportedly, Korean grandmothers used to rub watermelon rinds on sunburn, rashes, or irritated skin to soothe it and help it recover faster,” says California-based dermatologist Anna Guanche. “Cooling masks where watermelon rind is combined with avocado or banana can help with healing.” If your face is showing signs of UV damage, dark spots, or dry patches, it’s time to break out the vitamin-rich ingredient to fast-forward healing. “The vitamins A and C found in watermelon can help restore damaged skin after it’s exposed to sun, wind, or even stress,” says Guanche. Vitamin E, which is also present in the fruit, can lighten hyperpigmentation, fill out fine lines, and help neutralize the effects of free radicals (like sunburn). “Watermelon has a ton of vitamin E, which is a rejuvenating antioxidant for the skin,” adds Lancer.

Vitamin C is great for skin because "Vitamin C promotes collagen production, which has the potential to thicken the dermis, diminish fine lines, and is essential for firm, youthful skin,” says Dr. Patricia Wexler, a dermatologist in New York City. On top of that, vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it protects skin cells from damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure.

How to use:

1. Wash face.

2. Apply mask.

3. Leave on face for 10-20 minutes.

4. Rub in excess serum.

Now onto my review! Here is my face beforehand.

This mask is a very pretty light pink color. When I first applied it, it was definitely very cooling and soothing on my sensitive skin!

Once I took it off and massaged the excess serum into my face, my skin felt instantly refreshed! My face also looked brighter. Definitely a good sheet mask!!!

•Lastly I am going to talk about the Replenishing Je Ju Island Hydrogel Mask.

About the mask: This mask replaces moisture to the skin. It also is two pieces, so it clings to the skin and forms to the face. The mask also has jeju prickly pear and green tea. The jeju prickly pear is great for skin because which works to quickly absorb into the skin to soothe and hydrate it. Its high antioxidant factors help skin restore elasticity and even out complexion for a brighter glow. Green tea is great for skin because the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties in it may make it an effective treatment for acne and oily skin. According to research , the polyphenols in green tea, when applied to the skin, help reduce sebum secretion, which can lead to acne.

How to use:

1. Wash face.

2. Apply upper and lower mask.

3. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.

4. Run in excess serum.

Now onto my review! Here's my face beforehand.

This mask is definitely different than most sheet masks, as it's gel and has two parts! Once I put it on, I felt so relaxed-- it was sooo cooling!

The only negative thing about this mask, is that it slides down, so you have to keep sliding it back up. But overall, my face was very soft and moisturized after!
