The trick to making a Caprese salad worth eating is to use fantastic ingredients. That’s it!
1) Ripe, juicy tomatoes: I used a variety of heirloom tomatoes
2) Great mozzarella (or burrata)
Burrata is mozzarella with a glorious cream and mozzarella-infused interior.
3) Fresh basil
4) High-quality olive oil
Olive oil should not taste bitter or rancid—if it does, it has gone bad. My go-to olive oils are We olive or Trader Joe’s Kalamata olive oil.
5) Sea salt
6) Drizzles of balsamic vinegar. I used Glaze
7) Arugula. I love to add some greens.
