I usually like to focus on skincare for the face, but just as important is skincare for the body. We pay a lot of attention to our face because it’s what we see first when we look in the mirror and the skin is more delicate. But your body needs attention too!
Here are my favorite body butters, body lotions, and my favorite hand cream (you’ll see I’m partial to warm vanilla-y scents):
Hanahana Beauty’s Shea Body Butter in “Amber Vanilla” ($30)
This is a newer purchase but something I’ve had my eye on for a while now. Hanahana Beauty is an incredible company with a great mission and ethically sourced, all natural ingredients. If there’s any company to support, it’s this one. The product itself is also fantastic. I go for this whether my skin is super dry or not because the scent is just that good. It’s sweet but subtle and sophisticated. It melts into the skin really well which also makes application very easy. I’m on my first container and can tell I’ll be buying another when I run out.
Josie Maran’s Whipped Argan Oil in “Vanilla Apricot” ($36)
I want to say I’ve repurchased this tub 5-6 times now. I received it as a gift some years ago and have been hooked ever since. The apricot scent is my all-time favorite because it reminds me of something my mother used to wear when I was a small child. The scent is warm and bright. I’d say this is a staple for winter months and works best on parched, dry skin as it takes a very long time to absorb otherwise.
Philosophy’s Body Lotion in “Fresh Cream” ($22)
I’m on my second container of this and it’s become my daily staple when I don’t want to wear a perfume. To me, this is the ideal every day lotion. It absorbs quickly, effectively hydrates the skin, and the scent lingers for HOURS. This is in the realm of vanilla scents but reminds me of cooked down sugar or creme brûlée. Also a very warm scent.
Nécessaire’s The Body Lotion [Fragrance-Free] ($25)
I just did a review of this so I’m going to keep it short. Although you can find unscented lotions from the drugstore for much cheaper, there’s something about this that I can’t get enough of. The texture and absorbency is the same as Philosophy’s lotion which for me is absolutely ideal. They just have a great formula. I use this when I don’t want to interfere with a perfume or other scent I’m wearing.
Burt’s Bees Hand Cream in “Almond & Milk” ($10)
You can easily find this at the drugstore and it’s very affordable. The scent reminds me of marzipan, which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s subtle and not too overpowering. It’s super hydrating and a thicker consistency—if you just want a light hand lotion this isn’t going to be what you want. This is heavier duty and I love that about it. I rarely need to use it but when I do it fixes me right up. This is a great option for people in cold weather or working in environments where your hands are overwashed or oversanitized and zapped of moisture.
