🎅🏼GET THAT FAUX TREE SANTA APPROVED WITH THESE TIPS🎅🏼👍🏻
Ever bought that fake Christmas tree, expecting a scene from a Better Homes and Garden magazine, just to end up with a tree that’s more of Charlie Brown’s style?
Check out these tips to keep that fake tree looking glorious for Santa! (Photos included are visual guides)
🎅🏼TREE ASSEMBLY🎅🏼
🎄Once you assembled the base of your tree to the bottom layer of branches, pull apart (and pose) those branches before adding the next section of the tree. This allows you to have access to the branches from both below AND above them! It will be much easier to fix those posable branches that way. If your tree comes in 3 sections, follow this rule for the middle and top as well.
☃️BRANCHES☃️
🎄When posing the branches, remember OUT AND UP. This means, pull the branches outward (away from the tree base) and curl the ends of the branches upward like a hook. This will help make the branches look bushier.
🎄You don’t need the inside of the tree to look (or even be) full. The outside is the breadwinner here 👏🏻
🎄It will be tempting to position branches downward to fill in open space. Trust me, fight👏🏻the👏🏻urge! If you must bend branches to fill holes, always go upward, not down. (See photos)
⚠️If you are still worried about your tree not looking full, you can go back in through the middle of the branches with faux bristle garland to make it look bushier
🧑🏼🎄LIGHTS🧑🏼🎄
🎄DO NOT STRESS! Lights are easier than people realize. They don’t need to be perfectly organized or assembled in a certain formation. (I personally use the lights with dark green strands for camouflage)
🎄Rule of thumb: lights go on the outside, everything else goes behind them. This means, string the lights around the tree loosely and keep them close to the tips of branches. Stringing them up loosely allows you to move them around as desired. (See photos)
❄️BULB ORNAMENTS❄️
🎄Get multiple sizes. Large, medium, small and if you want to add a little razzle dazzle, the tiny ones.
🎄Hang the bulbs behind the light strands. Largest bulbs hang midway from the base of the branch. Medium bulbs hang from midway to ends of branches. The smaller bulbs should hang relatively close to the ends of the branches, sitting flush with light strands.
🎄See a bald spot or hole in between branches? Stick a large bulb in there! This will help fill in the tree and give it dimension. If the “hole” is smaller, just hang a medium bulb on the branch right above the hole.
🎄Try to keep the large and/or heavier bulbs away from the top of the tree. Placing them up there could cause branches to droop.
⛄️ORNAMENTS⛄️
🎄If you use ornaments, such as sentimental ornaments, hang these last! Stick them in various places that look a little bare.
🌨MISC🌨
🎄Top of the tree looking pitiful? Forgot to buy a new tree topper, or lost yours? Stick a Santa hat up there! They’re perfectly shaped for a treetop and they cover more space to hide any bare-branches up top!
🎄Want that fresh pine scent without the pine needles of a real tree? Pick up some pine scented air fresheners (the ones for cars that look like trees) and attach them to the inner branches of the tree! Just make sure not to place them too low if you have little kiddos or curious animals.
⚠️PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS IF USING ESSENTIAL OILS/SPRAYS TO GIVE YOUR TREE A SCENT (if you’re a pet owner). Some essential oils can be very dangerous for pets!
I hope these tips help you get your tree Santa-ready!
