My Healthy Feet Pedicure
I begin by using a non-acetone polish remover to remove old polish. Obviously if you have glitter polish or gel polish you may need to use the harsh stuff. I like to use these exfoliating cotton rounds with my remover because they remove the polish much faster.
Next, I soak my feet. If you don’t have one of these portable foot baths - get one!! I got mine on Amazon and it’s amazing! It’s foldable, washable, you can use it in any room, for your hands or feet - it’s just perfection. I use a few drops of moisturizing body wash to soak and pamper my nails and feet.
Tip: If your nails are stained from previous dark polish get some denture tablets from the dollar store and add a few of those to your foot bath while you soak your feet.
Once you’ve soaked your feet for about 5 minutes add some cuticle remover to your toes. I love Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover and have used it forever. You just put a thin ribbon on, leave it for a minute, use a pusher to push the cuticle back/scrape off, then I use a scrub brush to scrub the remaining off and clean under the nail edge. You don’t want to leave it on too long cause it will eat into your nail.
I will also use a emory covered orange stick to remove any rough spots if I need to and clippers to make sure my nails are straight across and even. If I have cuticles bits that are still sticking up I will use nippers to just snip those off, not to cut the cuticle!
My feet aren’t usually rough feeling cause I’m a big fan of the Baby Foot mask and a big sock hater! But if they are I will use a Ped Egg to file down rough spots. You can also use a foot scrub, leftover face scrub or just make your own using sugar and coconut oil!
Next, I like to apply a light lotion (here I used Pacifica Cannabis Flower Body Lotion) and my Yoga Toes to give my feet and toes a nice stretch while giving my cuticles a cuticle treatment and letting that sit for about 5 minutes. I like Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab but any oil works.
After about 5 minutes I use a cotton pad and nail polish remover to remove the cuticle oil and any lotion from my nails then apply my base coat. I like Pacifica Plant Magic Base & Top Coat. It’s Vegan. Cruelty Free. And it’s 16 free! So it won’t damage your nails!
Once the Base Coat has dried for 5 minutes I apply a thin coat of Pacifica Plant Magic Polish. The colors are amazing and its healthy for your nails. Apply 2 thin coats rather than thick ones so it dries faster.
Tip: If you paint on your skin, the next time you shower just gently wipe your feet with your towel and the polish will wipe right off and your polish will be perfect!
