This was my first attempt at homemade dumplings! Making them completely from scratch would involve me making fresh dough which I would love to do at some point. For the protein I simply used the Beyond Meat which made this process pretty simple. Crumbled tofu would work just as well.
Here is the full recipe:
1 pack Nasoya won ton wraps
3/4 Cup chopped vegetables (I used eggplant, onion, garlic and carrot)
1 Beyond Meat burger patty
1 Tsp ginger powder
3 tbsps sesame seed oil
2 Tbsps water
Crumble the Beyond patty me add to a pan with 2 tbsps of the oil, ginger powder, the water and vegetables. Cook on a medium/low heat until the meat is cooked and vegetables tender.
Stuff some filling inside each dumpling and use water to fold and seal each of the dumplings. This take practice. Watching some YouTube videos might be helpful for this step.
Cool the dumplings by either adding them to a rice steamer that had a space for steaming vegetables or to a pan. Cook no more than six at a time. Brush the dumplings with the rest of the sesame seed oil. If using a pan first cover the dumplings for two minutes and then cook uncovered until crispy flipping over occasionally. Both cooking methods require you to flip the dumplings so they cook evenly. On a pan they will become crispy but in a steamer they will stay soft so it’s really whatever your preference is. #veganrecipe #Cooking&Baking #asianfood #CookingBasics #ChineseCuisine
