It’s hard to miss the eyebrow slit trend. I’ve seen various people doing actual eyebrow slits by shaving them off and I really liked the look, but I didn’t want to shave off my own (I have very little eyebrow hair 😅) so I created a fake one! It’s a fun look to try out when you’re feeling a little edgy 😎
Below I demonstrate how to do a fake one with an example e girl makeup look!
I used pink mostly for this look but any vibrant color such as purple💜or green💚could be used as well!
💞 Eyebrow Slit Step by Step 💞
1. Shade in your eyebrows with a darker shade and create a “slit” using concealer (✅tip: apply the eyeshadow around where you want the slit to be and then clean up with concealer)
2. Apply the indicated shade from the Revolution HD Palette with a fluffy brush in your crease and bring it a little bit above your crease as well
3. Pack on ‘Wild Child’ all over your lid with a smaller denser brush and blend it into the previous shade
4. Draw on a thick winged liner (if anytime is the time to overdraw your eyeliner, this is it! ☺️)
5. Apply ‘Wild Child’ on your lower lash line
6. Highlight the inner corners and eyebrow with ‘Kaleidoscope’
7. Put on foundation and concealer as needed
8. Heavily apply blush all over your cheeks and a bit on your nose
9. Dot on small freckles all over your cheeks and nose with the eyeliner
10. Apply ‘Dusty Rose’ lipstick first and overlay with ‘Sugared Grapefruit’
And that’s it! This look took me about 1.5 hours to create, so if you have spare time, this is definitely a great way to get creative with makeup 🥰
What Is the E-Girl Look❓
It is a style that became popular on the internet in late 2019 through 2022. The "e" stands for "electronic" 🤖 because of its rise to fame via internet platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, Discord, and Youtube. It's a style that pulls inspiration from multiple countercultures of today and yesteryears.
Some main influences on e-girl fashion are Y2K fashion, emo, grunge, punk, pastel goth, and anime fans. The style is a fascinating mix of cute 🥰 and harsh. This can be seen in the combination of drawn-on freckles and pigtails with large cross and skull necklaces.
While the e-girl look may be rising in popularity, it's still a great way to look unique, stylish, trendy, and yet unique.
There are several ways to achieve the e-girl look from makeup and clothes to beauty trends.
For example, it tends to feature heavy eyeliner in either a puppy-dog or cat-eye style 😻.
Heavy blush (particularly on a button nose) is also a popular feature of e-girl makeup which contributes to its cutesy look.
And one of the earliest trends was two strips of hair dyed in a different color than the rest of the hair hanging down right in front of the face. Generally, bright and striking hair colors (like Billie Eilish's bright green hair 💚 ) are popular among e-girls.
Of course, another notable trend is the eyebrow slit. This out-there trend is an awesome way to enhance your style without making a permanent change like a tattoo or hair dye. They're just another fun form of self-expression 💞.
What Is Eyebrow Slit❓
😎 Making an eyebrow slit involves shaving a small vertical line in your eyebrow hair to expose the skin in that spot. You can also do multiple slits (no more than two or three) to create a striped appearance! You will find many different types, from single to double, and to fishtail eyebrow slits.
What Does Eyebrow Slit Mean❓
It first became popular in the hip-hop and rap community in the 80s and 90s. They may have been reminiscent of the kind of injury you'd get in a fight, so it was a tough guy look. However, it was popular with men before, but time has changed, and the eyebrow slit is more famous among girls now. 💞
Today it's a callback to the hip-hop counter-culture and a way to differentiate your look in general. Some members of the LGBTQ community have claimed it, but there's no reason why anyone can't rock an eyebrow slit. It'll help you stand out and call attention to your beautiful eyebrows.
How to Do A Slit in Eyebrow❓
Even though you can DIY it, it is better to get it done by a professional, like at a salon. They are trained, and hence they can perform the task efficiently. For example, they will use a razor to make the slit but will mark the area first and ask you if you are okay with the slit for surety. Gladly, it doesn’t cost much either. They will also tell you about the care and growth of your eyebrows after.
However, if you are confident, there is nothing wrong with performing it by yourself. You need a razor or electric clipper, scotch tape, and tweezers. A white eyeliner pencil can also be useful for marking your slit placement.
Mark It Out and Place Tape
The first step in making an eyebrow slit is to mark and place exactly where you want it to be. If you mess up this step, you'll be unhappy with the final result because it won't be in a place you like 😞 .
Mark on your eyebrow with the white pencil exactly where you want your slit. You can wipe it away and redo this as many times as you like to find the perfect spot.
Once you've marked your eyebrow with a pencil, place two pieces of tape parallel to the spot you're going to shave to cover up the rest of the eyebrow. All that should be revealed is the spot where your slit will be.
Shave It!
Very carefully shave the revealed part of your eyebrow. Don't press too hard or stray from the exposed area. You don't want to lift the tape and accidentally shave too much.
Only move vertically as you shave.
Remove the Tape
Carefully remove the tape from your eyebrow. Go slowly and pull it in the direction that your hair grows (never against!) so that you don't pull out any eyebrow hair that you want there. Remember; an eyebrow slit looks best if the rest of the eyebrow is full, dark, and maintained so that there's a real distinction between the two parts. (I have very little eyebrow hair 😅 so that's why I fake it with makeup.)
Once the tape is off you can wipe your eyebrow with a cotton pad. This will wipe off any hairs that are hanging around. Then, you can see if any hair within the slit got missed. It's natural for this to happen since you weren't shaving very hard. Use your tweezers to remove any stragglers.
Fill In Your Eyebrows
Now that your slit is perfected, move on to the rest of your brows. Style them however you normally do in your makeup routine. Your eyebrows should be well-shaped, darkened, and neat. You can use a pencil, pomade, gel, or other beauty products. The key is to enhance the look of your brow to draw attention to the slit 💅.
Do Eyebrow Slits Grow Back❓
Yes, they do grow back. There is no reason for them not to come back. Just like any other part of your body, your eyebrow hair also grows back within just a few weeks. However, the time may vary according to the hair growth, but you don’t have to worry about that because it will grow back eventually.
