I’m getting married! 🥰🥰
This ivory fringe dress made me stand out before my wedding. I looked stunning during my bachelorette party! ✨
As a fashionista, I believe that every girl’s wardrobe shall have at least one stunning white dress.
If you’re looking for an additional classic yet fiery piece for any occasion, check this white fringe dress that I found!
What Is a Fringe Dress and How Did It Become Trendy?
Fringe dresses are a HUGE fashion trend that stems from the 1920s.
They're the quintessential flapper-girl dress. These short styles are made from tons of different materials and show off texture like nobody's business. 💕💕
Basically, the dress is covered in hanging threads and cords of material. They're thin and look fringey, which is why the dress is called a "fringe dress."
They come in tons of styles and work great as casual, formal, or cocktail outfits. One of the reasons they were so popular in the Gatsby era was how freeing they were.💙
Women wore them to turn up their noses at the restrictions of previous eras (I mean, come on, think about what would happen if you wore a corset every day. Yikes.)
I still feel really unrestricted when I wear a great fringe dress. It's not just a great #throwback, but it's a great present-day trend to keep up on, too.
My Favorite Fringe Dress 👗
My favorite fringe dress is a brainchild of awesome designer Adrianna Papell. It's the designer's fringe-trim short sheath cocktail halter dress.
It's iconic, it's ivory, and it's everything that I love in an outfit. ✨
Other fringe dresses I've tried were a little bit too heavy on texture. I've bought some really weird fringe dresses that I just couldn't wear because they were so... stringy.
IDK how else to explain it, 🤔 but I knew I needed something a little more... subtle.
The best thing about my fave fringe dress is that it's actually sophisticated. The below-the-waist skirt part is lined in pretty fringe, but above the waist, there's solid fabric.
This gives the design a good smooth/textured contrast that doesn't overdo it. ✨
I'm also loving the halter top! Its sleevelessness is perfect for parties, nights out, and pretty much any other casual occasion you can think of.
Because of my own experience, I also know that it's perf for brides at wedding showers and bachelorette parties. This dress has a super wide range. 💕💕
How to Style My Favorite Fringe Dress
There are tons of ways that you can style this great dress for casual settings! You could pair it with matching thigh-high boots or strappy sandals.
It also looks awesome with pearl jewelry, another Roaring 20s throwback. 💙
I personally specifically bought this dress to wear to my bachelorette party. I didn't want to wear an actual wedding dress, but I wanted to give off the vibe of the new bride that I was.
So I slipped it on, enjoyed the thigh-high white-wedding pregame vibe, and had a great night out.
Here's what I did (and what I'd recommend to other brides who want to Make The Look™):
Put on a fun veil after you slide into the dress! You might as well get into total bridal mode on your last night out as an unmarried woman. ✨✨
Grab a comfortable, funky white platform heel and roll with it. Make sure that the shade of white you choose doesn't clash with ivory. 🤍🤍🤍
Warmer cream hues are usually best, nothing too cool or LED light-ish.
Add a matching white clutch or shoulder bag to hold your phone, makeup, and other stuff.
Put on some hoop earrings. 👂
I 💛ed my big gold hoops, but silver would also probably look stunning. It looked great and felt even better.
An In-Depth Review of My Favorite Fringe Dress
Okay, so here are some fast facts about my favorite fringe cocktail dress:
💘 Brand: AIDAN
💘 Price: $295 💰💰💰
💘 90% polyester, 10% elastane main fabric content
💘 100% polyester secondary fabric content
💘 100% polyester lining
💘 34" length from hem to shoulder
💘 Dry clean only (so be careful with it)
Those are the on-paper basics that you need to know before buying. Still, there are other factors that will go into your decision, too.
🤔 Key Decision Factors
Alright, so there are 5 major reasons that I decided to buy this cute little dress.
Comfortable materials. Polyester's great for clothes because it's stretchy and soft. I felt so comfy all night, even when I was dancing around. 💃
There also wasn't a ton of packaging when it came in the mail, which is great for sustainability.
The design and style were, of course, the MAIN reason I got this dress. It's bridal, but it's fun and cheeky, too. 🍑
Perfect to feel like hot stuff before you seal the deal the next day. Love the fringe, love the subtlety, love the ivory hue.🤍🤍🤍
This dress looked SOOOO comfy and it didn't disappoint when I put it on. I can't even tell you how awesome it felt.
It's got the right amount of stretch that I could dance flexibly 💃 and move around a lot.
The material's pretty high-quality. I'll probably throw a cardigan over it and wear it to cocktail parties or out clubbing in the future. It seems like something that'll last a while.
The dress is $295. 💰💰💰
Don't love it, but it wasn't bad compared to other fringe dresses I was looking at.
So, yeah, there's a lot to love about this dress.
Pros and Cons
Some specific things I LOVED:
❣️The fringe is soooo pretty!
❣️The halter top looks awesome on any body type. It's a universally good fit, I think.
❣️There are tons of sizes available from 0-18.
❣️The material stretches a lot and is so comfy.
❣️When I put the dress on, I felt more confident than I had in a LONG time.
There were also a couple of things I wasn't too into, though:
🥺 THE PRICE. WOO. 💰💰💰
It actually isn't that bad compared to other bachelorette party dresses, but it did put a dent in the bank account. I probably wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't have a specific occasion in mind for it.
🥺 The skirt rode up a little while I was dancing, but I could totally fix the problem by stitching the lining to the top skirt.
🥺 The zipper in the back is at a tough angle to zip on your own, so you'll need your friends to help get it on and off.
All in all, it’s a great purchasing choice!
But make sure to keep all that in mind before buying. 🧠
🆚 Comparing My Favorite Dress With the Competition
So, how does Adrianna Papell's design compare with others? I borrowed some other fringe dresses from trendy friends to see how it compared.
🆚 CHERYL CREATIONS Women's Short All-Over Fringe Flapper Sleeveless Comfortable Day/Night Mini Dress with Adjustable Bra Straps ⭐⭐
PROS
❣️ It's really cheap. Literally $50. But you do get what you pay for.
❣️ It has spaghetti straps, so it works similarly to a halter top.
❣️ It's a little bit longer and won't ride up when you dance.
CONS
🥹 The fringe was everywhere while the Papell option was much more sophisticated and subtle.
🥹 It was really itchy and I didn't like the feel.
🥹 I didn't like that it wasn't as form-fitting as alternatives, though some people might.
🆚 BABEYOND Women's 1920s Flapper Dress V Neck Slip Dress Roaring 20s Great Gatsby Dress for Party ⭐⭐⭐⭐
PROS
❣️ Really great design with diamond flapper-girl pattern.
❣️ The fringe extends over the hem, which is cute.
❣️ The silver accents went well with sterling silver jewelry.
❣️ It's only $60ish.💰
CONS
🥹 TOO Gatsby-ish. I felt like I was wearing a costume.
🥹 It rode up way more than my favorite dress when I tried dancing in it.
🆚 LYANER Women's Off-Shoulder Wrap Fringe Layers Sleeveless Elegant Party Mini Dress
PROS
❣️ The fringe on the sleeves looks awesome.
❣️ Simple pull-on closure
❣️ Machine-washable
CONS
🥹 The fabric was too sheer. You'd need to wear something underneath it.
🥹 My friend I borrowed it from says it's falling apart.
🥹 It's a bit long for my taste.
I definitely like it the best of the three options, although the BABEYOND one was also pretty good.
Still, my favorite fringe dress is a great brand, and it's the only ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
