DIY At Home - Indian Triple Whammy Face Mask
views · 09-19-2020
Growing up, my mom taught me several beauty secrets that were inherent in the Indian culture. I used to hate putting this mask on when I was young because it felt chunky, but now I literally cannot go one week without putting this mask on at least once.
A few fun facts:
1. These same ingredients can be used to make an Indian dish called “dhokla.”
2. Brides and grooms have a wedding ceremony called the “haldi ceremony” wherein they use a mix of turmeric, rose water, and sometimes a few other ingredients to help look bright and ready for the big day.
3. With the change in seasons, our skin’s moisture balance gets thrown off, and this mask does a great job of resetting the balance. It exfoliates, brightens, and moisturizes all at the same time.
I started off by mixing a few spoons of Chickpea flour (helps exfoliate), with turmeric (helps brighten). Then, I added a few squeezes of lemon and a spoonful of yogurt (helps moisturize).
I used the back of the spoon to apply it, as it gives a super cooling feeling.
After leaving the mask on for 15 minutes, it dries up a bit, and is easy to rinse and rub off, though you’ll have to be okay letting one of your towels get super yellow.
I promise, this mask is going to be one that your skin will thank you for, immensely.
