Hi beauties!! ✨🌸💄
I’m sharing with you my new fav Dior lipstick in 525 Chérie (metallic) - a rosewood whose name conveys Christian Dior's love of women and his muses - which is one of the four iconic shades Dior launched.
I chose the color when I redeemed it from Prismpop Tester Club because (1) it looked so cute in photos, and I was curious how it looks in person and (2) metallic lipsticks are back in the trend now, and I hadn’t worn them for a very long while, and I wanted to see how Dior would reinvent the metallic finish for an updated look. I’m sooo happy that I picked this one, because it’s beautiful 😍 and I could see it becoming popular in the upcoming holiday season soon!!
Since we are taking about such an iconic shade of this classic lipstick of Dior, let’s start from the history of the brand and move on to more information about it before I share my opinion about this particular shade with you. ✨🙌
💋background info about the brand💋
Christian Dior started the brand in Paris at 30 Avenue Montaigne. It took less than three months from the brand's creation to show its first collection on Feb. 12, 1947.
Being the most influential fashion designer of the late 1940s and 1950s, Christian Dior influenced fashion after World War II with the gorgeous silhouette of his voluptuous New Look. He was so famous in France at the time that it seemed as if he wasn't a man but an institution
✨a little bit more of history here✨

🎵what I love about it🎵
💋the iconic shade!!! 525 Chérie is such a unique warm-toned shade that even works for my cool-toned skin.
💋 it’s a light color (I’d say a light rosewood color) but pigmented enough with a single layer.
💋 it’s def a NEW metallic shade - no big glitters, but only subtle and beautiful metallic shine.
💋being a multiplayer! I think it can triple as a blusher and a highlighter. I haven’t used it on my eyelids, but I suspect that it may work as a pink eyeshadow too.
💋 the packaging! At a $42 high price point, the packaging is of great quality and well made.
💋 being versatile! You could wear a light layer for a hint of color, wear several coats for a dramatic date night look, or top it with a little lip gloss/lip oil for a more modern look.
I also ❤️love❤️ that the lipstick features several floral extracts for better hydration of the lips. I was sick when I first tried on the lipstick and it helped my lips to stay hydrated throughout the day.
😳what I don’t like about it 😳
Nothing. But if I really have to, I found it a little hard to press down the refill as it requires a little more strength than I thought. But it is nothing that I’d be too concerned about, as practice makes perfect and I’m sure it will be easier when I replace it with a new refill. 🎵
🌸Alternative product/competitor 🌸
YSL THE BOLD HIGH PIGMENT LIPSTICK
This newly released lipstick could be a major competitor for the classic Rouge Dior, as both lipsticks claim to be highly pigmented and long lasting.
I have both of them, and I think Rouge Dior has a low key vibe to it both on the packaging and the finish. YSL The Bold lipstick is creamer and shinier, and if you would like a shinier finish with the Rouge Dior one, you could top it with a gloss, like how I did it in the last photo (I used Clarins Lip Perfector).
😍why you could trust me 😍
I have been a beauty addict and an amateur critic for over a decade, and I’m a trilingual (English, Japanese, and Chinese) who reads and writes a lot about beauty products & the beauty industry in all the languages I know. I love lipsticks, particularly French and Japanese ones.
I love Rouge Dior, and I’m so happy that I could use my points to redeem this lipstick. My review may be a first one to the shade 525 Chérie in metallic finish, so hopefully it could be of help for many others who may be interested in Rouge Dior and this shade. I think it’s a pretty color that can be worn in many ways, making it a great versatile lipstick for the upcoming holiday season! 🎄
