Sweet Potato Hack. 🍠 🍞 I’ve shown this hack before on my channel but not in a few years and thought why not create an updated video showing how great it is! To me it tastes incredible as a toast replacement in the morning for avocado toast. This is also an easy way to use up sweet potatoes in case you bought too many which I’ve been guilty of too many times. 🤭
This has the crunch factor that toast has with a sweet and warm gooey inside that I love. You can do this with red sweet potato, white sweet potato, yams or purple yams. Just make sure to buy potatoes that are long with a lot of girth. The only drawback is that it takes a lot longer than bread to toast. If you try this hack let me know in the comments below! 🍠 Sweet Potato Toast 🍠
➡️ large and wide sweet potato
➡️ big sharp knife for cutting
✔️ Step 1:
Slice the ends off the potato if they’re too pointy. You can keep the potato lying down on the board and then cutting the slices like how you would cut corn. Or an alternative way to cut is after slicing the ends off (and even a little more) use one of the flat ends to prop the potato up and slice the pieces off.
✔️ Step 2:
Toast the slices in your oven for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit on parchment paper lying down or in the toaster slots.
✔️ Step 3:
Top with jelly, hummus, avocado or whatever toppings you like!
To make this you need a TOASTER OVEN so I will talk about two options. I believe you can also use this with a toaster that has slots but just be careful to not let the potato get stuck in the toaster.
1) The first option is the Bella toaster that I have. It’s very affordable and has great reviews so I think it’s a great option. It’s 14.8 x 11.1 x 8 inches.
Bella 4-Slice Toaster Oven Black/silver BLA14413
Benefits:
➡️ affordable
➡️ small perfect for a small kitchen
➡️ can bake, broil or toast
➡️ built in timer
Drawbacks:
➡️ not easy to clean the bottom parts of the appliance
2) The second option I have is a more high end toaster by Cuisinart. It’s 18.75 x 16.5 x 11 inches and 15.4 pounds.
Cuisinart 6-Slice Toaster Oven with Broiler Silver
Benefits:
➡️ has benefits that other toaster does
➡️ also has nonstick interior which is easier to clean
➡️ larger so can fit more food than Bella
Drawbacks:
➡️ more expensive than Bella
I personally love my toaster but I know some people who prefer an air fryer. I once had an air fryer but ended up selling it because I never used it. Are you team air fryer or toaster?! Comment down below.
