In the 1920s, a young woman in Paris, France changed women's style forever. She said being overdressed is as bad as being underdressed. She created a new kind of simplicity, for everyone to be able to put together, even those with little fashion sense.🛍
Her name? Chanel, Coco Chanel.💛
The heritage brand today of Coco Chanel created a new fragrance line with all different scents that perfectly embody her style and mission. I was elated to be selected to review the Coco Chanel Perfume Dossier.co fragrance!
As a longtime user of Chanel fragrances, my nose is well trained in fine scents. But sometimes my wallet was not all in for the high prices. When I learned that Dossier.co sells the perfect Chanel dupe at a fraction of the price, I was all in.

🛍What Is Dossier.co?
You might be wondering how on earth I get my favorite Chanel perfume, Coco Mademoiselle, which is valued at $105, for just $29.
It's thanks to the miracle of the Coco Chanel perfume Dossier.co created. Dossier is the leading "inspired by" fragrance brand. Their goal is to be the "fair alternative to luxury perfumes."
They want luxury scents to be accessible, without the markup that usually stems from ornate bottles and heritage branding. Most fragrances on their website start at $29 but some go up to $59 for 50mL or a classic 1.7oz size bottle.
Dossier has a useful rating system so before making a purchase you can gauge how accurate a scent is. When it comes to my Coco Mademoiselle scent that I know so well, I'd say they hit the nail on the head!
🎀Coco Chanel Perfume Favorites🎀
I've worn Chanel for as long as I remember. When spritzing my liquid gold, I was very frugal and only reserved it for the utmost of special occasions due to the high price of each bottle.
Each spritz went cha-ching, cha-ching! The scents of Chanel invoke plenty of nostalgia.
I wore Chanel's iconic No5 on my wedding day. In the summers I bathed in Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Despite craving to smell this pleasant year round, I only reserved my Chanel for vacations and special events.
When I first heard about Dossier.co's Chanel dupes that sell for just $29 a bottle my mind was blown! I could now afford to buy my favorite perfumes from designer brands at one-fifth of the cost, it baffled me with excitement!
It's important to note a disclaimer that perfume smells different on everyone. What works with your body chemistry and what I enjoy on myself might not work for someone else. That's ok!
Even the Dossier.co Chanel perfume dupes smell similar to the original in the bottle, but the formulation might smell different on the skin. I want to put that out there. That is why perfume is such as personal choice!
Below I analyze my favorite Chanel perfumes and their Dossier.co dupes!
🎀No5
This scent stands the test of time. Chanel No5 continues its legacy from generation to generation. The scent is over one century old and remains infamous for the use of soapy aldehydic notes.
The scent is STRONG, and synonymous with wisdom for most. The scent is generally first discovered on a close grandparent, then a mother, before trickling its way down to the next generation.💛
No5 is Chanels top performing perfume. Dossier created their own Chanel No5 by combining a sweet floral bouquet with stimulating aldehydes.
Dossier's Chanel No5, Floral Aldehydes, combines white floral notes with the synthetic scent molecule, aldehyde. Top Notes of this scent are aldehydes, neroli and bergamot.
It also features may rose, jasmine, and ylang ylang with base notes of orris, sandalwood, and vetiver. Some people say that Chanel No5 "smells like grandma" but that's sort of the point!
🎀Coco Mademoiselle
The belle of this baller perfume guide is Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume. The Dossier.co dupe, Woody Oakmoss, is praised for it's similarity. As Chanel No5 appeals to an older crowd, Coco Mademoiselle, comes to play with the younger crowd.
Coco Mademoiselle is the epitome of class and elegance for a young woman. This fragrance released in 2001 so it came 80 years after the debut of Chanel No5.
🎀Chance
In 2002, Chanel launched another perfume that quickly became a bestseller, Chanel Chance. Chance is floral and fresh yet spicy and seductive at the same time.
Although editorial advertisement for Chance might signal the scent was directed towards young tweens, Chance became popular across generations.
It is the perfect scent for daughters and mothers to share. Dossier's version of Chanel Chance has top notes of hyancith, lemon and pineapple. There are middle notes of jasmine, pink pepper, and patchouli, finished with warming base notes of vanilla, vetiver, and orris.
Every season is in a bottle of Dossier's Chance inspired Woody Hyancith. Depending on your skin chemistry, this scent will smell exactly like the original Chanel Chance or slightly more musky and masculine.
🏆What Is the Most Popular Chanel Perfume?
Chanel No5 🏆remains not just one of the best Chanel perfumes, but one of the best perfumes of all time. It is on every top ten list, exists within thousands of families, and is a symbol of Chanel's outstanding heritage.
Reports even show that Chanel No5 is the world's most popular perfume. The perfume holds a very rich history and was conceived by a chemical mistake. Regardless, Coco herself fell in love with scent number five, and Chanel No5 was born!
The Story of Chanel’s Famous Perfume🏆
Coco Chanel was an intelligent businesswoman. She founded her clothing brand, Chanel in 1910. Ten years later, Coco craved something new to introduce to her brand.
She became set on creating the first Chanel perfume. She turned to the risque perfumer, Ernest Beaux, who'd formerly created scents for the Russian royal family.
Beaux and his team made ten scent samples for Coco, she fell in love with the one labeled number five. In a positive turn of events, scent number five turned out to be a good mistake.
Beaux's team member accidentally added aldehyde to the formula. The scent had the sweet florals that Coco craved, but also a soapy musk that transported her back to her childhood.
Before officially launching the scent, Coco tested the market. She wore the perfume herself and would spritz it at gatherings. Once she saw how many women were curious to know what divine scent she sported, Coco knew she'd created a winner.
From there on, Chanel established her brand in the beauty space. They launched Chanel No22 in 1922, skincare in 1927, and continued to launch more and more beauty and fragrance each year.
Chanel at a Fraction of the Price🛍
The price for Coco Chanel perfume small size Mademoiselle perfume is $116 per 1.7 oz formula. The same size Dossier dupe is just $29. This means you can buy FOUR Dossier perfumes for the price of one Chanel perfume.🛍
Dossier even offers further discounts when you purchase three or more perfumes (like free shipping and 10% off). Their goal is to offer everyone a taste of luxury instead of people purchasing one luxury fragrance and becoming enslaved to that scent until they can afford their next bottle.
Is Coco Chanel Perfume Dossier.co a Good Option?
The Woody Oakmoss scent by Dossier is inspired by Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume. But how accurate are the notes to the original Chanel perfume?
Dossier perfumes hold a 15% concentration which is pretty common for most fragrances. Fragrance conctrations usually range from 15-40% with most around 20%. The concentration is what distinguishes an eau de toilette from an eau de parfum.
The same fragrance may come in an eau de toilette and an eau de parfum. Again, the difference is the concentration.
💫Eau de toilette concentration: 8-15% fragrance oil
💫Eau de parfum concentration: 15-30% fragrance oil
The concentration determines how strong the scent will be and how long it will last. According to Dossier.co, the Woody Oakmoss is an eau de parfum, so it offers more longevity and strength as the inspired Coco Mademoiselle.
It has over 1200 reviews with an average 4.5 rating, so people are pleased with the scent. Raving reviews comment that the Woody Oakmoss:
💫"Smells exactly like the real deal, couldn’t be happier with my purchase.:
💫"It definitely stays all day!"
💫"Love your reproduction so much! Spot on!"
💫"Smells exactly the same as the real deal! 10/10"
It's clear that regular users of Chanel fragrances are as happy as I am to have discovered something that is truly on point to the original scent. There is no noticeable difference between the scents, which is so refreshing since there is a very noticeable difference between the prices!
When You Should Wear It?⏰
The Dossier Woody Oakmoss eau de parfum consists strongly of vanilla, musk and sensual amber. Because of this powerful balance, it makes a lovely perfume for evening wear year round.
It can also be worn in the colder months like fall and winter to bring some warmth to your ambience. Dossier scent experts suggest layering the scent for a one of a kind scent combo created for day or night.
You can consult one of their scent experts or try one of their suggested blends. The Dossier team has two unique recommendations:
🛍Woody Oakmoss + Musky Oakmoss
This combo makes their scent androgynous. The floral musk of the Woody Oakmoss scent pairs well with the oriental musk of the other perfume.
🛍Woody Oakmoss + Gourmand Patchouli
Create a bold blend with marquis patchouli. I love patchouli!
This combo sounds divine. It is a blend of elegance and tasteful notes of cacao and honey.
Is Dossier Legit?❣💯
Dossier is very legit! The company is amazing and holds a 4.1 star rating on Trustpilot. The reason Dossier prices are so low is because they do away with markups that traditionally stem from:
- Fancy packaging
- Brand name or heritage
Dossier's focus is giving you the same high quality luxury fragrance without the markup. Their team of chemists and perfumers carefully study other luxury scents to extract the main and base notes to recreate the same scent at a lower cost for you.
There is not differentiation in the quality and manufacturing of a Dossier fragrance versus a traditional fragrance.
What Was Different Between the Chanel Perfume and Dossier.co Dupe?🌺
There are hardly any differences between my Dossier Woody Oakmoss Coco Mademoiselle dupe, and my original Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume.
The only major difference is that the 1.7 fluid ounce Dossier perfume is almost $90 cheaper! The original Chanel scent outlasted the Dossier scent, but only by about one hour, so there was hardly a difference.
Tha packaging is also different, but they both have nice bottles, so for me it didn't really matter. Overall, the Dossier perfume claims to be nearly identical to the Coco Mademoiselle scent, and I can confirm!
Dossier lives up to their claims!
🌺Wearability Comparison
Oftentimes lower cost perfume fragrances are short-lived. They might have a cheaper price per bottle, but you have to constantly reapply them all day, so it defeats the purpose because you end up buying more frequently in the end.
I tested the wearability length of the original Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and the Dossier Woody Oakmoss duplicate.
Chanel
The Chanel perfume has major longevity. Sometimes I'll spray it on my clothes and it's still there the next day! You only need a few spritzes of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and it will last all day and sometimes even through the next.
Dossier
The Dossier Woody Oakmoss dupe held it's own despite a price that is one fifth of the original Chanel. It lasted pretty much all day, maybe just one hour less.
A tip to make the any perfume last longer is to avoid rubbing your wrists together! This actually breaks up the notes and defeats the entire purpose of spraying the fragrance.
It also smells very similar to the Chanel version on my skin! Everyone's skin is different so it will vary from person to person.
There is a sweet level of vanilla that makes this scent perfect for the cooler evenings and fall months. It's an alluring sensual scent.
There are also heavy floral notes. It's definitely more of a feminine scent.
🌺Packaging Comparison
The packaging of the Chanel and Dossier bottles are quite different. Chanel fragrances do a different bottle for each variation of their fragrance.
Dossier uses the same bottle for all of their fragrances, but it is equally stunning. Many consumers don't realize that a huge sum of their money is not even going toward the perfume, but toward the pakcaging.
Dossier streamlining their packaging to just one style, reduces costs and ensures you're only paying for the fragrance, not ornate bottles.
Chanel
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle comes in a classic rectangular vintage style perfume bottle. It looks like a crystal gem. There is clean, elegant gold rimming surrounding the crystal clear bottle that exposes the fragrances soft pink tone.
Dossier
The Dossier packaging is very modern. It features clean lines that make me very happy. Dossier also focuses on greener packaging, to further reduce waste.
The shipping box is playful and made of 100% recycled materials. The fragrance comes in a 100% recyclable glass bottle.
It looks so elegant and chic on the vanity. When I have multiple Dossier fragrances I can easily distinguish. Dossier uses very bold fonts for their fragrance names, so I know which scent I'm reaching for.
I actually love the cohesion the matching bottles create on my vanity.
🌺Key Notes in the Dossier.co Perfume Dupe
The Coco Chanel Coco Mademoiselle dupe on Dossier.co is fittingly titled Woody Oakmoss. The notes are nearly identical to the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance I've used every summer for years!
I know this scent well, and when I tell you, there is no distinguishing, I'm not kidding.
If we were to blindfold someone and have the guess the real and dupe fragrance, they wouldn't know how to. The notes in this Woody Oakmoss are indeed identical to Coco Mademoiselle:
🌺Top Notes:
Bergamot
Orange
Peach
🌺Middle Notes:
Jasmine
Rose
Patchouli
🌺Base Notes:
Oakmoss
Vanilla
Vetiver

The scent of Sandalwood may reduce stress and promote calm.
🌿Men's Fragrance Dossier.co
Some of the scents on Dossier.co are unisex or designed for men. Dossier creates iconic men's colognes such as Tom Ford for Men, Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, and Chanel's Bleu de Chanel.
The Verdict: Orignal Chanel or the Dossier.co Dupe?🥊🥊
I currently have both, only because I already had an old bottle of my Chanel. From now on, I can't even imagine spending full price on a Chanel perfume when I can get something just as good for 80% off!
I love the dupe of my Coco Chanel perfume Dossier.co created in the Woody Oakmoss scent. It smells exactly like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle! Sure there is something nice about getting the real thing, but at $100 a bottle, Chanel perfume isn't cheap.
I'd rather buy the dupe perfume and save my money for the real Chanel bags! A much better investment in my opinion!🛍
I was very pleased with the Chanel perfume options from Dossier.co and will definitely be shopping around for some of my other favorites like Chanel No5!
