Inspired by the lovely holiday season we’re in, I pulled out my one and only plaid skirt and found myself trying to choose between three different ways to style it! In these cases, my favorite thing to do is whip out my phone and tripod, and film the possibilities.
Here are three ways I’d style a Christmas Plaid Skirt (this is one I got on sale at H&M):
Plaid on Plaid
The key on this look is to ensure the plaid patterns are slightly different from one another, and that both aren’t too loud or colorful. As you can see, the plaid on my shirt is much more subdued than the skirt, so it works out well. My shirt is one that’s very old and non-branded, and I chose a bag that was a little more versatile, and would work to balance all the color that was going on in my outfit. This vintage Fendi is a neutral grey with hints of silver in it!
Go for the Gold
Sparkles and frills are holiday season musts, according to me. I’m usually not a fan of too many ruffles or frills, but this stunning top had to be an exception, especially for Christmas. It’s a beautiful marigold colored top by Stine Goya that I got on sale at Nordstrom Rack, and I actually paired it with a yellow Bottega Veneta Padded Cassette bag! I thought I’d only be able to use the bag in the spring and summer, but because it went well with the top, and for some reason, reminds me of bubble paper in a Christmas present, I think the bag worked well with this look.
Winter Blues
Blue is not only my favorite color, it is a defining color of the winter season. Whether it’s the icier tones or the deeper, darker navy shades, blue looks stunning in December and January. I decided to wear this Maison Margiela crinkle-effect blue top with the skirt (I got it on YOOX), and throw on a bag that matched the exact shade of the top. This top handle bag is from an up and coming, vegan brand called House of Want!
Well, my friends, I hope at least one of these looks convinces you to pull out a plaid skirt this season. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
