Growing up I was not able to try as much traditional Chinese food as I would have liked because Sam Diego does not have too much of it. Los Angeles though on the other hand which is where I live now has the most incredible variety! There is even a vegan Chinese restaurant which I did not even know existed!
Ever since I moved here I have been so curious about more traditional Chinese food since it is so accessible. Not until a few months ago did I try making dumplings myself but they are a food I have been fascinated with for awhile so I knew I would try making them at some point. The process of making them reminds me of making Iraqi meat dumplings for stews (for those who do not know I am Iraqi). The process of making dumplings is time consuming but so rewarding. I find it so therapeutic.
I did not measure the ingredients this time so it might not make sense to write a recipe but I do have a previous dumpling recipe you can refer to and turn into a soup! You will just need to wrap the dumplings differently. Soup dumplings need to have a twist at the top where as dumplings that are eaten alone have lots of pinches and a half moon shape.
Have you ever tried dumpling soup before?
