This Halloween I wanted to create my own DIY Broken Doll costume using things I already have! Chances are you have most of this stuff too! I'll link some things here just in case you don't.
This look surprised me because it was so much easier than I was expecting! I've tried to do the doll costume before with mixed results. This broken doll with open stitches and stuffing coming out really completes the look. I love the way it turned out!
Let me break down my process so you can do it too!
☝️ You will need:
✔️ A cute dress baby doll type of dress
(I linked the one I'm wearing)
✔️1 cotton ball
✔️Eyelash glue or Spirit Gum. I used eyelash glue because it's what I have and it works great.
✔️Eyeliner in the color Black
✔️Pillow stuffing for dress optional. I used left over spider webs.
🗒️ This is great if you have a dress with a zipper! Just unzip and put stuffing there.
How to:
1️⃣ Make a V shape with black eyeliner & draw lines for stitches
2️⃣ Fill it in a bit with black by smudging your eyeliner inward.
3️⃣ Rip up your cotton ball into VERY TINY pieces
4️⃣ Work in small sections in the V and start to glue the cotton until you cover the V
5️⃣ Decorate the rest of your face with big eyelashes, (drawn on is ok) rosy cheeks and lips.
6️⃣ You can also create this stuffing look on your neck, arms or legs if you like. I just did my face.
7️⃣ Add a bit of stuffing from your pillow to your dress with a safety pin or coming out of the sleeves or zipper to complete the look.
8️⃣ Tie ribbons (or kleenex tissues like I did) in your hair.

❌ Taking glue off your face, especially the hairline. I recommend using makeup remover for this.

❌Cheap zipper, broke the first day but that's ok for this look! I will need to repair it for future use

✅ gentle on skin

❌ not as strong as spirit gum

🗒️ Conclusion:
I absolutely loved this DIY costume! It was surprisingly easy and you don't have to have any special skills to pull it off. I love that you can still look kinda hot and I got so many compliments while wearing this. You can bundle up as much as you want with leggings, long sleeves, etc. So you won't have to be cold & uncomfortable in a tight or thin costume. 10/10 I totally recommend it! ☺️
