BITE Beauty wasn't always on my radar, but I've recently grown to love this brand for a few reasons. This company takes pride in being a clean beauty brand with luscious oils, butters, and waxes that make your lips *radiant* and healthy. Their new Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss even uses cinnamon oil instead of strange chemicals to plump up your lips. Not sold yet? I hope you're ready for what I'm about to say next....These formulas are some of the best I've ever tried.
Midnight Mood Mini Power Move Lip Crayon Trio: I was a little hesitant to try this holiday set because of the deeper brown tone Añejo, but I thought I'd give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a brown with pink tones, so it compliments my skin well. Sazerac is the perfect nude that enhances my natural color better than any other lip product I own...yes I'm serious! The shade Negroni is simply a beautiful red that would look stunning on anyone. I am extremely happy with the colors and I think a little will go a long way with these minis.
Formula: I wouldn't say these are super transfer-proof, but they do remain pigmented and in place for hours without eating/drinking. The combination of orange peel wax, jojoba, and other natural ingredients makes these matte lip crayons feel like butter on your lips while staying in place. Also, the pigmentation is just out of this world.
Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss: If you've seen this new product advertised recently I know what you must be thinking...is a $25 lip gloss really worth it? In this case I have to say yes and no. Personally, the amazing ingredients used in this lip gloss were what made me consider buying this, and not to mention the beautiful shimmer. I chose the shade Cider Donut (a fall name + gorgeous color = get in my cart!) and I love how it compliments my natural lips. However, I'm sure there are other lip glosses that are a cheaper price if it's only the color you're interested in.
Formula: Like all lip gloss products, it doesn't last as long as a matte lip. However, I would say it stays put a good hour or two before you may want to reapply it. The plumping factor is very slight, a cinnamony tingle; I'm not sure I notice my lips being plumper from it, but the gloss makes them look bigger anyway. This gloss isn't sticky or tacky at all and feels like a thick/smooth blanket of magic. The best part of all the Yaysayer colors is that there is a base gloss shade, with small flecks of color, instead of a glitter bomb. Is it acceptable for me to wear this everywhere? You bet.
Crystal Crème Shimmer Lip Crayon: If I have to pick a favorite color it would probably be Cherry On Top because I'm in a bit of a red phase right now. However, I love them ALL. The Cocoa Crush definitely surprised me with the brown/gold color but in a good way. Both the shimmer and matte shades are on the top of my list for lip crayons.
Formula: The shimmer is just the right amount and not too distracting. These stayed for the same amount of time as the matte shades did, which I consider impressive. Again, the ingredients are top quality and leave your lips feeling so smooth! They even smell good. I definitely recommend any of these colors (there are a few more I have yet to buy).
How to Apply Lip Crayons Perfectly:
1) Take your lip crayon and start at one point of your cupids bow (If you have a more rounded lip and not a defined cupids bow you can experiment with shapes or keep it rounded) then drag it along your lip line, diagonally and down. Repeat this on the other cupid bow point. As my picture shows, you will end up with an "X" to help you see your lip lines clearly and create your cupid bow shape.
2) I like to start at my outer lip corners and drag my lip crayon upward to follow the natural lines of my lip (or you can overline for a fuller look).
3) Find the bottom of your lip and start to draw a line right underneath for the appearance of larger, poutier lips.
4) Connect the bottom line to the outer lip corners. Connect the outer lip corner lines to the top of your lips where your previous cupid bow marks are. Viola! Now that you have your lips defined you can fill in the rest. These are just little tips to help you create a lip look easily, it's up to you to tweak and change these tips as you find out what works best for you!
