botanical repair™ strengthening shampoo | Aveda
š plant-powered, bond-building treatment formulated for all hair types and textures to create hair that is stronger & shinier. The bond-building molecule penetrates the inner cortex to strengthen & repair hair from the inside out. There are 3 different types of bonds found in hair: hydrogen, ionic, & covalent. Together, they build those strong interactions among protein chains, which in turn make up your hair fiber.
š Aveda looks after the environment as well as your hair since they focus on natural, organic, & cruelty-free products.
ā Are there sulfates?
They use ammonium lauryl sulfate derived from coconut & coco-babassu sulfate derived from coconut and babassu.
š I like using protein strengthening hair products when my hair 1-2 times a month to help balance out the moisture & protein in my hair. I know itās time to use them when my hair starts to feel weak & not elastic like. When the bonds in the hair are intact, it's able to hold on to moisture and protein as well as prevent color fading.
š This shampoo leaves my scalp & hair feeling clean, but also strong. I find that this is perfect for when I want to apply heat to my hair, so either a blowout or straightening. Weak hair is prone to heat damage, so I would rather have my hair feeling & looking strong beforehand. Itās not a heat protectant but I can feel the difference for sure. Plus I only use heat here & there, not very often at all.
āHow do you know if your hair lacks protein?
If you notice hair is limp & stringy, without bounce, you could have a protein deficiency. By increasing your protein intake, you will boost elasticityācreating bouncier, fuller hair that is easier to style for your hair care routine. Also doing protein hair treatments will help.

šš½ Pros:
I feel & see the difference after I use it. I trust Aveda because Iāve used multiple products from them that work & arenāt damaging with nasty chemicals.
šš½ Cons:
itās kind of pricey for it being a shampoo, but I will say shampoo is the most important part for the rest of your routine to effectively penetrate the hair.
š In comparison, Iāve also tried the Curl Smith bonding shampoo and that one isnāt my favorite because it was really drying on my hair.
⨠In conclusion I would say, I definitely recommend for all hair types that are dealing with any kind of damage or need that moisture to protein balance, for healthier looking & feeling hair.
