✍️ This product has 6 month shelf life AFTER opening
But it was dry when I opened it and dry mascara should be avoided.
Just because you don’t open your makeup doesn’t mean it will last forever. It’s still very helpful to look and see when a product was actually made. It can be unclear exactly how many months each product will last after being made but here’s a general reference.
Typically we should Replace:
Primer, Foundation & Blush: 24 months after opening
Lip Products: 12 months after opening
Mascara/Eyeliner: 3-6 months after opening
‼️ For the record I love this mascara and already repurchased a new full size tube! Ironically, I always get the travel size so it won’t dry out early. 😅 Guess that strategy didn’t work out this time!
I honestly think it’s the brush that makes it so amazing. I’ve tried so many others and nothing comes close to this one! I’m just glad this wasn’t my first experience or I would have probably never known how awesome this stuff is.
Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ⁉️What Happened?
1️⃣ I noticed my BRAND NEW mascara seemed dry
2️⃣ Looked for the batch code (which was hard to find)
3️⃣ Checked cosmetic calculator for manufacture date
I alerted the seller (Sephora) & got a refund.

The shelf life for eye-area cosmetics is more limited than for other products because it is more susceptible to microbial infection during use by the consumer and the risk of eye infections. Manufacturers usually recommend discarding mascara three to six months after purchase. If mascara becomes dry, it should be discarded.
