Clarins is a brand I’ve loved for a long time, and that love was passed down to me from my mom. She started using the brand in her teenage years after her first ever trip to Paris and never stopped talking about it since. You’ll even see both of us in one of the above images at a Clarins event last year! If you’re thinking of trying their products, here’s what you should know about the brand
Rooted in values:
- Clarins itself is a very long-established, family brand that isn’t owned by a mega-corporation like some of our other favorite beauty brands are.
- They started developing products with plant-based ingredients in 1957, and in 1987, was the first French company to abandon testing on animals.
- It’s no wonder my mom is a fan of the brand. Their long-standing values and affinity for natural ingredients is something that is very--well--her.
Everyone can find what they need:
- Most of their skincare and makeup is formulated to work on any age.
They even have a MyClarins line which is ALL skincare made from completely natural ingredients like figs and stuff, catering to those who are very much into clean beauty.
This would mean that it's harder and more expensive to make but is, in my opinion, definitely worth it.
The price tag is pretty justified:
In order to create high end skincare and makeup that works on several kinds of individuals, years and years of research is involved. As well, as said on their website, “Even if a product is a best seller, the formula will be enriched and enhanced to deliver more quality, sensorial pleasure and beauty.” This dedication to innovation is only part of the pricetag, though.
Advertising, and in large, the packaging, is factored into the price. If you’re someone who loves a well packaged product, you should know that a portion of what you pay when it comes to beauty is for that. Keep in mind, nice packaging does not mean excessive. In fact, Clarins has partnered with Plastic Odyssey to ensure their packaging is eco-friendly and less wasteful. I genuinely appreciate that as a brand, they are eco-conscious and all-natural, yet can create luxurious high-end products.
You’re paying not just for a skincare product, but also a nice scent that comes along with it. Since a lot of products in Clarins’ lines are made with natural ingredients, it’s no wonder their skincare smells like a dream. Some days, I walk out without fragrance because my skincare has done the trick.
Your face is with you every day, whereas your wardrobe changes every day. If you would spend $50+ on shoes, then it’s worth thinking about why you aren’t ready to drop that on skincare and makeup!
If you have tried or are planning on trying any Clarins products, definitely share your experience with me. I’d love to hear what you guys think!
