I know you notice it too, Blond Balayage has been one of the statement hair colors this year!
I see many girls rocking and changing into this hair color recently, and that’s not surprising!
Did you know that 85% of women color or dye their hair at least once every eight weeks?
It's so easy to change your hair color these days. You can have it done by a professional or do it at home.
One popular trend is blonde balayage. Since I've seen so many women with this hair color lately, I decided I wanted to try it. 😎
In this article, I'm going to answer the question "what is blonde balayage" and tell you all about the recent products I've used. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know before you buy a box of dye or go to your next hair salon appointment. 💇♀️
What Is A Blonde Balayage👱🏼♀️
Blonde Balayage is becoming more popular because it looks more natural. It also isn't as damaging to your hair because you don't have to touch it up as often, and the roots of your hair don't get dyed.
The word balayage means "sweep," and that's the technique that is used to achieve the look. The hair dye is painted on to make it look like your hair is "sunkissed" or naturally lightened by the sun. ☀️🕶
Choosing A Product👱🏼♀️
When I'm choosing a product for my hair, there are a few factors that I look at. I want my hair to look and feel amazing.
There are so many products on the market now it's hard to know which ones are worth it. These five key factors help me determine if I should continue using the product.
There weren't any ingredients in the Clairol Nice n Easy Balayage Permanent Hair Dye that had big red flags. However, I would have liked to see more ingredients that were good for hair growth. There are many natural elements that could be included that promote healthy hair. ✔️⭐️
The price of this product is one of the reasons I keep buying it. It can be found on Amazon for $9.61 or a pack of three is $28.83. There is also a subscription option that lowers the price too. 💵💰
Product Safety ⛑
One of the downsides of this product is that it's not cruelty-free. The hair dye could potentially be tested on animals, which isn't great and could be a deal breaker for you. 🐭🐰
Suitable for what hair types 😃
I have thick wavy hair, and this dye works great on my hair. They also have dyes specifically for different textured hair. So, if your hair is straight and thin or coarse and curly, you can use this product.👩🦰👩🦳👱♀️
Shade Range 🌈
There are fifty shades to choose from. They range from light blonde to black. 🌈
✅ Long lasting
✅ 100% Gray Coverage
✅ Easy to use
✅ Great for blonde highlights
❌ Not a lot of product (need more than one box if you have long hair)
❌ Not great for people with sensitive scalps/skin
❌ Doesn't smell good
How To DIY a Blonde Balayage
While going to the salon is great, it can be pricey. Below are the steps for the perfect blonde balayage that you can do at home. 🎀
First, you're going to brush your hair out and divide it into four equal sections. It'll help if you divide the left from the right and then the top from the bottom. Clip three sections, so you're working with one portion at a time. 👍
Put your gloves on and mix the product together. You want to color to look natural and not in a straight line, so tease the hair by your roots. 🧤
You'll then paint the paste onto your hair starting at the bottom. Be sure you don't put it on the teased parts. You can also use your hand to ensure the product is applied evenly. 🤩
After you do the first section, you'll repeat it until all your hair is done. You'll want to let it sit between 20 and 30 minutes. If you have thick, textured hair, you'll want it to sit a little longer. 💯
Rinse out the product using only cold to lukewarm water. Once the water runs clear, you can shampoo and condition it like normal. 🛀🏻
Maintaining the color isn't too difficult. You'll want to use a purple shampoo once a week to keep the blonde bright. Be sure to get regular trims to keep it healthy and touch up the color whenever needed. 💇
I have done my own hair for years, but every once in a while, I like to go to a professional. I went to Sage Salon & Boutique in Boerne, TX. The salon was an old home that had been converted, it made for a very comfortable and cozy experience. 💈
The owner, Allison, did my treatment, and it went great. She listened to me and was very easy to talk to.
My hair also turned out amazing, the color is even better than I had expected, and my hair feels so healthy. I've already booked another appointment with her in a few weeks. 👍🤩
There are so many brands out there, so I decided to try a few so I could compare them. Below are three popular hair dyes and what I think about each one.
1. Wella Professionals Illumina Permanent Creme Hair Color🧴
🥳 The color turned out amazing and lasted longer than I expected it to. It also smelled better than some of the other at-home dyes I've tried.
🥳 The price was only a few cents more expensive than the Clairol Nice n Easy Balayage Permanent Hair Dye. 🙅However, they didn't have any option to purchase more than one boxat a time on Amazon. I also found that they didn't have as many colors to choose from.
2. L'Oréal Professionnel Majirel Permanent Crème Color 🧴
🥳 This brand was easy to use and left my hair feeling really soft after I washed it out. This product seemed to be more high-quality than the previous one.
🙅 It is, however, more expensive - but not by much. It's about $12 on Amazon and so far, there’s no subscribe-and-save option to get a cheaper price.
3. Matrix SoColor Pre-Bonded Permanent Hair🧴
🥳 I got great coverage with this hair dye. The color on the box was an exact match too, which doesn't always happen.
🙅 The price is higher than the other brands I've reviewed at about $13 a box. It didn't seem to last as long either.

Final Thoughts: Blonde Balayage👱🏼♀️✨
If you don't change your hair often, it can be stressful to try something new. If you're getting bored with your current hair color, I highly recommend trying a blonde balayage.
It doesn't require much maintenance and upkeep and will look natural while also giving you the change you're looking for. ❗️❗️
It’s a hair color that looks both natural and glamorous, so it will give you an effortless glow-up!
Why Trust Me🤔
I do anything I can to keep my hair healthy and looking great. I've been dying my hair at home and having it done professionally for years. I've had some looks that weren't great and I've also had some that I loved. 📆
It's taken me a while, but I've finally learned what works for my hair and what doesn't. I enjoy trying new products and styles, and I know I'll branch out again in the future, but for now, I'm sticking with the blonde balayage look. 😃
Frequently Asked Questions❓
If you're anything like me, your hair is really important to you. I do anything I can to keep my hair healthy and looking great.
1. How Long Does It Take To Do Blonde Balayage on Black Hair?💬
Typically a blonde balayage will take between 1.5 and 3 hours. The process could take longer if you have naturally black hair or have previously dyed it. I wouldn't recommend getting it done on a day when you have a tight schedule.
2. How Long Does Blonde Balayage Last? 💬
Typically a blonde balayage will last three or four months. This treatment doesn't require the same amount of upkeep.
3. Which Is Better, Balayage or Highlights? 💬
There isn't one that is better than the other. It all depends on what you want your hair to look like and how often you want to go to the salon.
4. What Is the Difference Between Balayage and Blonde Highlights?💬
If you're having your hair highlighted, your stylist is going to use foils to achieve the look and you'll need to have your roots touched up frequently. Balayage is a more natural look that doesn't require as much maintenance.
5. Does Balayage Need Bleach?💬
You don't always have to bleach your hair to achieve a balayage look. However, if you have dark hair it's likely it will need to be bleached. The color will last longer and hold better, too.
