@Katie tried out the three major mouthwash brands on the market: Listerine, Colgate, and Crest/Scope. The Listerine mouthwash contains alcohol that aids in killing bacteria (up to 99.99% of bacteria, to be exact) which also results in a stronger burn. This PrismPop creator enjoys the feeling of the burn, but not everybody does. Other than freshening your breath and eliminating germs, this mouthwash doesn’t do a whole lot.
The Colgate mouthwash contains added fluoride, which is supposed to strengthen tooth enamel to prevent chips, cracks, and cavities, even in places your toothbrush doesn’t reach. The minty flavor is enjoyable, but there is no burn, and the cool, refreshing sensation doesn’t last more than a couple of hours.
Lastly, the Crest x Scope mouth rinse provides 24-hour protection against bad breath germs and also protects your chompers from plaque and gingivitis. This mouthwash is only $4.99, making it super affordable, plus it’s available at almost every retailer in the United States. However, Katie notes that the aftertaste was very unpleasant and completely unbearable.
