Hello again fellow PrismPoppers! Who is ready for more haircare reviews? 🙋🏻♀️ Let’s talk about a HUGE part of haircare… Heat protectant! We all have different hair types but most of us use heat products whether its daily or you only use them from time to time for special occasions. While I wish I didn’t have to use heat styling tools so often, heat protectant is a great way to keep my hair from unnecessary damage.
What is heat protectant spray? It is a spray that when applied before using heat styling tools reduces damage to the hair! I have dry and fine hair so heat protectant is an absolute must, but it’s important to help defend any type of hair!
Q & A:
❔Question: How does heat protectant work?
Answer: It acts as a barrier between the hair itself and the styling tool. This also helps reduce frizz and moisturizes.
❔Question: Do you use heat protectant on wet or dry hair?
Answer: Either! Whether or not your hair is dry or wet, it’s important to use before styling with heat including hair drying, curling, and straightening.
❔Question: What happens if I skip on the heat protectant?
Answer: If you skip, heat can strip the natural or artificial color in your hair. It also breaks down the keratin protein which gives your hair its strength and elasticity! So it’s definitely not something you should skip!
❔Question: Is cream or spray a better form of heat protectant?
Answer: Either one is a good idea use and have different benefits. Spray is easier to use and can be better for getting a more even spread through the hair. Cream, however, is known to provide better protection than spray. So it depends on your preference. I prefer spray because it’s much easier to get through my hair providing overall protection.
❔Question: Can you use heat protectant spray on damaged, dyed, or bleached hair?
Answer: Yes! It’s recommended but be careful because not all products are recommended for colored hair.
How I tested:
So first up, I did my research on both products. My L’ange spray came from a big order from the brand during one of their sales. My Moroccanoil spray came from a PinchMe sample box. I read up on both products and made lists of the pros and cons. Then I tested each one separately for several weeks. Lastly, I styled my hair as normal, only using one product on one side, and the other on the other side of my hair!
My decision factors:
What makes me choose one product over another?
⭐️Ingredients- I want to see clean ingredients that are safe to use on my hair!
⭐️Benefits- I want to get a lot out of my haircare! I always look for specific benefits that will help strengthen and protect my easily damaged hair.
⭐️Price- I like to use affordable products that work well over spending lots of money on brands that may or may not work!
⭐️Brand- I’m not typically loyal to only one brand but I have several favorites that are brands I trust!
⭐️Key features- I always look for specific features such as good, sustainable packaging, cruelty free, and beneficial ingredients.
L’ange Rival Heat Sheild

🤍Provides a light hold
🤍Adds shine to hair
🤍Has a light, pleasant scent
Cons of the L’ange Rival Heat Sheild:
❌Has several alcohols in the ingredient list that can be very drying for hair
❌Dries my hair out
⭐️⭐️⭐️and 1/2 ⭐️
I initially really liked this spray, and unfortunately I didn’t look up all the ingredients when I purchased it. It worked well for the first several times I used it but I did notice it started drying out my hair sometimes. Also you can see in the video, my hair didn’t curl as nicely on the side with the L’ange spray. Unfortunately, I love most of L’ange’s products but this doesn’t do it for me.

Why should you trust me?
I’ve been on a haircare journey for two years, working hard to repair the damage done from years of misunderstanding my hair. I’ve studied all about my hair type and what different products do to help or harm hair. I’ve also tested a lot of different products over these two years and seen a marked improvement in my hair!
So which product would I recommend?
I definitely recommend the Moroccanoil Protect and Prevent spray over L’ange Rival Heat Shield! It works much better, doesn’t contain harmful ingredients, and offers much better benefits! I’ve tried several Moroccanoil products and I’ve never been disappointed. My hair always feel soft and looks so shiny after I use it. Sadly, L’ange contains drying alcohols and I can’t recommend it.
